As floral designer I met Siobhan and Stuart through Valentina, our wedding coordinator specialized on weddings on Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore.
I leave to her introducion this lovely couple:

Shiobhan and Stuart are a nice couple coming from Scotland.
I never met them before they came here for their wedding. We planned all details via email and our collaboration started more than one year ago!
Sibhoan is a wonderful and sweet person. She faced every step of the planning with a deep joy and enthusiasm and it was a pleasure and honor for me helping her and her groom to make their dream come true.

They decided for an intimate wedding on Lake Orta because they wanted to share the perfect atmosphere of this quaint corner of Italy only with their close friends and family. They spent some days in Orta taking also the occasion to enjoy the lake in a special period of the year: Early Spring.
This moment is special here, flowers and plans and blooming and the tourists are still few.
A perfect choice!

From the floral point of view Siobhan and Stuart’s wedding was really unusual, they chose a theme based on pink and yellow.

For the bride and grooms who wish to celebrate their wedding outdoors in a garden or by the lake shores a colorful palette of pink and yellow could be a trendy solution! It can be dynamic and out of classical choices making the atmosphere warmer colorful and charming!

Yellow is a joyful, energic color which brings optimims light and transparency.
On the other side Pink is very feminine and fine, it recalls elegance, class, refinement, sensuality and seduction.
The final effect is absolutely gorgeous and unique just as for Siobhan and Stuart’s wedding.

Every floral arrangement Siobhan and Stuart chose recalled pink and yellow. Villa Bossi columns arrangements, flowers on the table of ceremony, petals on the aisle and centerpieces for reception to Hotel San Rocco.

In order to create this lovely scheme we opted for Aqua roses in a deep pink shade and some yellow gerberas with a delicate touch of Alchemilla.

To match light yellow bridesmaid dress we opted for little bouquet of Aqua roses that in its semplicity gave a natural and smooth appeal to all.

Have a look to Siobhan’s arm sheaf bouquet. We realized it in the same shades of the entire event!
The arm sheaf bouquet is more or less like a bunch of flowers created to be carried on an arm, just like a baby.

Let’s not forget about the Royal table arrangement in Rotary room of San Rocco Hotel.
We realized it with little candles, roses and floral arrangements in different shapes and dimensions to give a dynamic and joyful aspect just like Siobhan and Stuart wanted.

If you would like to give a special and different touch to your wedding being far from usual schemes then a pink and yellow themed floral arrangement could be a great idea!
The colors need to be matched with taste and elegance to create smooth and charming arrangements!

As flower designer I think that a theme matching sensual pink and lightful yellow could be the perfect choice for a joyful happy and bright wedding!
After all it is just like this a wedding should be! Fun joy and a wonderful sweet party!

Among the trivia or the contest we can say that the simple and natural ones were more successful than the more elaborated ones.
Round shapes was preferred rather than teardrop or cascade bouquets.
Preferred colors were pink and white.

At the second position we find white hydrangeas bouquet from British couple Louise and Antonin who got marred to Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como.
Bouquet was reated by Figli dei Fiori and the photography is by Studio Morlotti – Milan.

Third prize went to roses of the bouquet of Italian couple Daniela and Mauro created by La Piccola Selva floral designers on Lake Orta.

Even if fuchsia and orange are two very different colors if you match them in the right context they could made up an absolutely different and beautiful scheme that could be so fun for your wedding!
In order to recall Summer nothing is better than bright colors such as fuchsia and orange. These colors could be the perfect frame for a natural wedding in a garden, on a beach or just by the lake shores like Sonja and Allard did.

Sonja and Allard ara another lovely couple coming from Holland who chose Lake Orta for their wedding in italy. Do you remember about Desire and Sander and they sweet balloons themed wedding? Or do you recall about Danielle and Silvain the groom with the top hat?

Choice for colors was not accidental. Orange is the color which represent Holland, Prince of Orange and National Football Team, soccer players are called Oranges (Oranje in Dutch).

Sonja contacted me via email a couple of months before the wedding and she had very precise ideas on her colors scheme. As floral designer my task was advising Sonja about the most suitable flowers to use considering that the couple had not a huge budget.

The month before the wedding I personally met Sonja and Allard and I was touched by their kindness and simplicity. After defining some details the choice for flowers went on fuchsia rose and gerberas, little button flowers of Craspedia and orange Solidago.

For the table of the ceremony we opted for a glass cube full of oranges (Sicily Oranges) and fuchsia gerberas with a bright orange table cloth underneath!

Sonja wanted to be different as far her wedding dress was concerned too! She chose an aquamarine color dress. It was an informal but still elegant wedding dress that perfectly matched the bright and happy theme of her wedding.

Civil ceremony was held in the garden of Villa Bossi in a wonderful sunny day of the beginning of the summer with many orange and fuchsia balloons.
Bride and groom decide to brake the tradition once again! Rather than making the groom waiting for the bride side of the ceremony table, bride and groom decided to arrive together with a rowing boat. Such a great idea!

After manu pictures in medieval Orta villae bride and groom had a lovely boat tour on the lake up to St Julius Island. Once on the Island Sonja and Allard decide to visit San Julius Abbey and its wonderful piece of Art the “Ambone” the most precious item on Lake Orta. They they moved to their happy and fun reception on the Island.

As Maren Ollmann did for Rebecca and Marcus’ wedding, Valentina and Stefano were able to made a relatively simple event without many scenography effects, in a wonderful photo set one of the best we have on our site for sure!

We would really like to compliment with Valentina and Stefano and most of all…. Congratulations to our wonderful couple Sonja and Allard.

It is not the first time that a couple chose Lake Orta for an intimate and romantic wedding for two. Valentina will post soon a brand new article on this and the wedding for two she planned on Lake Orta.

Josh and Bronwen are a young couple coming from Australia.
They come from very green Tasmania, South Australia and Melbourne. Tasmania is also famous to be Tasmanian Davil’s home country, a little funny animal of Warner Bros Looney Tunes cartoons.
Melbourne and Victoria State from Great Ocean Road to Yarra Valley one of the greats vines areas of Australia.

Last spring Josh and Bronwen decided for a long vacation in Europe a destination of this journey was a special one: wedding destination!
Josh and Bronwen looked for an intimate and special place so this was the reason for Lake Orta. On the day of the wedding a light shower and a little bit of haze on the lake created an even more magic and enchanting atmosphere on the lake.

The bouquet I created for Bronwen was also dreamy and romantic: a pink peonies bouquet just like she dreamt!

Peonies are elegant and precious flowers and most of all they are Bronwen’s favorites!
Peonies have light pastel colors like white and pink and they are just light and rich. They are often used in many cultures for ceremonies even if it was forgotten for a while during the 70s and 80s to come back on fashion in these last few years. Now peonies are among most wanted flowers for weddings, just like roses.
Peonies are spring flowers, it can be available all year but perfume wont’ be the same and most of all they won’t last that much.
There is nothing like a peony in spring!

The original idea was using as centerpiece the classical fish bowl with some red fishes and a special decoration with Bear Grass, ivy rose petals, little stones and white Avalanche roses.
Nothing more simple!
A little original idea who was really appreciated by all Francesca and Sebastiano’s guests.
Sometimes a little touch is just enough! Don’t you think so?

Waiting for Enrico Mocci‘s entire photo gallery I would like to spend few words on Nicola and Dana’s wedding floral arrangement.

Nicola and Dana’s color scheme varied from pastel pink to cream with the frame of big hydrangeas flowers.
Hydrangeas are simple but elegant flowers. They are very local on lakes. You can find many here thanks to climate and soil.
Hydrangeas are ideal on a summer wedding. They can match every situation: open air, garden receptions or romanic or baroque churches you can find on lakes region.

The religious ceremony was held in Sacro Monte church on top of Orta hill overlooking the lake.
For this occasion I created a white hydrangeas based arrangement with some cream and pastel cream roses adding some greenery too.

Have a look to the floral columns I created to embellish the main aisle heading to the altar.

Dana chose a round shape for her bridal bouquet.
It was made of pastel pink roses on a base of white hydrangeas and falling Ficus Benjamin leaves.

She wanted the perfect bouquet for her wedding dress.

Wedding reception was held to St. Julius Restaurant on St. Julius Island.
Table arrangement was very pretty. I used three different shapes of glass vases to create a elegant and pleasant effect.

For the top table I opted for a a little variation.
I placed a base of glass with water and crystal inside. I added then two little bunches of flowers facing one another as a symbol of the unity of newlyweds.

As floral designer I loved work and build with Dane and Nicola floral arrangement for their wedding. Day after day, decision after decision we reach a great result that you can see in this post.

As Mariana and Matteo (main character of the picture who won the contest Shot of the Year 2009) Francesco deep love for his hometown affected Sarah. So this is the reason because they chose Lake Maggiore as frame for their wedding.

As floral designer I managed all flower arrangements for Sarah and Francesco’s wedding: from their ceremony who was held in Sala del Regno in Verbania and reception to Grand Hotel Dino in Baveno. Last but not least I created also bridal bouquet with red roses and wonderful sparkling Swarovski that Sarah brought from UK. Such a perfect choice! The lovely sunny weather made them sparkling all thay long just like little diamonds.

Religious ceremony with Jehovah service has been held in Sala del Regno in Verbania. It is a big and bright building with lovely garden.
Religious service of Jehovah’s Witnesses is very simple but surely strict. It follows rules that founder Charles Russell established in middle 1800 and spread through religious magazine The Watch Tower.

Sala del Regno in Verbania has a very minimal style in its inside. It has no altar or columns although my flower decoration was placed on metal and wicker holders.
Grand Prix roses matched white Lisianthus and apple green Alchemilla with some Ruscus festoons.

After the ceremony Sarah and Francesco took a walk on Stresa promenade with Isola Bella on the background for wonderful wedding pictures.
We take the occasion to thank wonderful photographer Davide Caravaggio from Verbania (Caravaggio, just like the famous painter!!)
The image with bride and groom and Isola Bella, to me, is one of the best taken on Stresa promenade. Such a lovely contrast between lights and shadows that make this image the perfect spot – a symbol for weddings on Lake Maggiore. Great job Davide!

After Stresa bride and groom went to Grand Hotel Dino where all their guests were waiting for them.
If you are looking for a luxury wedding on Lake Maggiore in wide, bright rooms just on the shores, Grand Hotel Dino in Baveno could be the right choice!

In the wide function room of Hotel Dino I created lovely centerpiece matching Sara’s bridal bouquet style. It matches elegant and luxury atmosphere too. I created fine compositions with a touch of essential simplicity in order to let all guests admire the beauty of the place too.

Last but not least I really want to show you this wonderful picture. You will see Sarah in it. Doesn’t she look like a queen? Her joy, her jewels, tiara, necklace and earrings together the bouquet I created for her make her just a wonderful vision.

This the best memory I have from amazing Sarah and Francesco’s Wedding on Lake Maggiore!

Their wedding was a real mid summer wedding arranged between Mountains and Lakes.
First the ceremony on Church of Madonna del Boden and then down to Stresa on Lake Maggiore shores.

Church of Madonna del Boden is located on the road leading to small village of Ornavasso (close to Verbania – Piemonte). It climbs on top of one of the most spectacular Alps mountain: Monte Massone. From Mt. Massone peak the view is gorgeous. You can see Mt. Rosa, Mt. Weissmiess, Mt. Adamello and Mt. Bernina. On South view runs over River Po Plain and on 5 lakes such as Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore. Just amazing!

Church of Madonna del Boden has been built on 500 mt of altitude right inside chestnuts woods. A fresh oasis that Marialisa and Matteo simply loved during the hot August day of their wedding.

As floral designer I took care of all flowers arrangements: white was the theme color for the church and bridal bouquet.

For the church I created a lovely arrangement made up of Ice Queen white roses and Lilium Longiflorum. Different heights that matched wonderful white marble altar and balusters of the church. All this white marble gives to the church elegance and brightness enhancing floral arrangements too.
On Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta areas only Churches of Madonna del Boden and Madonna della Bocciola have this pretty feature.

Marialisa wanted for her bouquet a round and compact shape that I created with Ice Queen white roses with some Pittosporum greenery and some Gypsophilia.

Out of the church a woderful vintage red Jaguar was waiting for Marialina and Matteo to take them to Stresa on the lakeshores. From the mountains to the lake in just 30 minutes!

For their wedding reception Marialisa and Matteo chose Villa Aminta in Stresa a luxury ancient Villa which is now an elegant 5 stars hotel.

Wedding reception here is usually arranged on the terrace of the hotel with breathtaking view on Borromeo Gulf and Isola dei Pescatori (Fishermen Island) or in the fine rooms of the Restaurant named “Le Isole” and “I Mori” with lovely gazebo on Lake Maggiore.

For the reception to Villa Aminta I created a fresh centerpiece in pastel colors to match bright frescoes of wonderful I Mori room.
Gerberas, Roses, Aster, Lysianthyus and Lilium : a perfect mix of shapes and pastel colors that matches Marialisa and Matteo’s spirit.

On bride and groom’s table I created a pastel arrangement too but bigger with a long ivy train to match table cloth cover design.

A wonderful sunny day gave the bride and groom and their party, the opportunity to enjoy a lovely aperitif in Villa Aminta gardens.

I would like to thank photographer Claudia Suriano that kindly put on disposal Marialisa and Matteo’s wedding images.
Claudia Suriano style is characterized by natural reportage features which meets a minimal use of some posed photos just to complete the photo service.

Today I am going to talk to you about Yvonne and Savino’s wedding event: she is German and he is Italian, both living in Milan, and they are among the many couples who this year have made Lake Orta their chosen venue for their special day.

The wedding ceremony was performed against the enchanting backdrop of Orta’s Sacro Monte while Yvonne and Savino chose the elegant Hotel Ristorante L’Approdo in Pettenasco.
The photographer who recorded the event was Alessandro Balossi, certainly one of the best portrait photographers on Lake Orta. The two pictures we have published here are a splendid example of his ability to capture his subjects spontaneously and naturally.

I was asked by Yvonne and Savino to be their flower designer and to take care of every aspect of the floral decoration for their wedding. The color scheme was white and lilac , certainly one of the most popular combinations over the last year. Yvonne particularly wanted a bouquet which featured these colours but which at the same time would be special and quite unique, elegant but natural.

This gave me the idea to use the flowers of the lilac Hebe, which has always been one of my own favourite flowers.
The Hebe grows wild in New Zealand but can also live quite happily in our own gardens, above all the lilac flower is one of the most delicate and natural we can find in existence. Quite perfect for the bouquet that Yvonne wanted!

Apart from the Hebe, the other lilac flowers I used for Yvonne’s bouquet were Freesia and Lysanthius, while the white flowers were Avalanche roses and the Cymbidium orchid .
I also used the same colours as Yvonne’s bouquet for the gentlemen’s buttonholes, white roses and lilac Lysanthius.

The floral arrangiaments in the Sacro Monte at Orta, were Yvonne’s choice of large Lilium Longiflorum, which I find are particularly fine in this church. Notice two arrangements I created for the two sides of the main aisle leading to the altar: two stylised vertical arrangements Lilium Longiflorum with a large lilac ribbon. A simple solution which is most effective… and above all quite economical!

The bride and groom’s car also features the same theme developed for the church with Lilium Longiflorum, greenery and lilac ribbon: in this case a long festoon transversally covers the whole bonnet of the car.

After the ceremony, the party went on at the Hotel L’Approdo in Pettenasco: elegant cuisine, a superb position on the lake shore and value for money are the keys to success at this prestigious location run by the Primatesta Family, historical leaders in the hospitality industry on Lake Orta.

The wedding reception is held in the elegant spacious Calle Room at the Hotel L’Approdo: you will see that the table centres and fancy sweet boxes have the same color scheme chosen by Yvonne and Savino, white and lilac.

Something special the Hotel Ristorante L’Approdo does is to offer the bride and groom a trip on the private motorboat to the island of San Giulio, a unique opportunity to admire Orta San Giulio and take some wonderful wedding shots!
