When Wei-Ting and Sigfrid first saw Balbianello Villa, they had no doubt: this would have been their Italian wedding venue!
And here we started the whole wedding planning. Groom was very active and enthusiast: it has been a real pleasure working together with them to built the perfect wedding day.
We went through every single detail trying to make a mix of the 2 strong cultures: Italian one and Taiwan one.

Hand-painted parasol, gifts for the guests (Chinese gift for the Italians and Italian gift for the Taiwanese) and all the atmosphere was a perfect combination of different customs for this unforgettable Lake Como wedding.

Sigfrid and Wei-Ting Lake Como fairy tale began with a ‘cinematographic’ setting: the beautiful lake view ceremony, performed in the terrace of the Star Wars movie!
The guests arrived by boat. They picked-up the beautiful parasols and they and attended the ceremony handling the beautiful lace ceremony booklet with the red stamp reporting the names of the couple and the wedding date. This is another Chinese interesting custom!
A special thank to the lovely musicians: they’ve been great! They created a perfect atmosphere for the ceremony!

The celebration continued with a rich aperitif under the Canfora Tree Terrace where delicious drinks and food have been served while the couple took a lovely walk for their wedding pictures together with our great photographer Roberto Rapetti of SilverStars Photography.
I take the opportunity to really thank him and his staff for the great job made with us during the whole season!

The dinner was planned under the magnificent Balbianello Loggia, overlooking Lake Como.
Refined round tables, richly decorated with flowers crowns and floating candles, surprised the guests arriving to take their seats.

Being a small group I suggested bride and groom to change table at each course, in order to share their time with all the guests and they really loved this idea!
During the night they had the opportunity to dine at all the tables and this was highly appreciated from the invited guests.
The whole group really enjoined food, wines and impeccable service.

In the meanwhile the bride opted for a change of dress and wore her Chinese beautiful red bridal dress to show it to the Italian side of the family. She was simply gorgeous and ready for cutting the cake.
The cake was very special indeed! A Modern, squared and finely decorated cake following the bride taste and indications.
Cutting was made on the notes of her favorite Italian song: ‘A te’ by Italian signer Jovanotti.
What a dream!

Another wedding on Lake Como, I remember all of them and I can say everytime for me is just an amazing day!

When they came over for their visit to choose the right venue for their wedding Lucy fell in love with the wonderful spot of Villa Bossi in Orta, an ideal venue for an outdoor civil ceremony.
For their reception Lucy and Mike wanted something different and for this reason they opted for Lake Maggiore and its wonderful clear waters.

Let’s start from the beginning!
Lucy and Mike’s guests were not many they decided to stay in Stresa the gem of Lake Maggiore overlooking Borromeo Islands.
It is just there where Lucy got ready.
At the right time all were ready to reach Lake Orta for a wonderful ceremony at Villa Bossi.
Lucy arrived a little later to get on the boat and reach Mike and guests waiting for her.

Flower decorations were studied by La Piccola Selva and as usual they were just perfect!
Lucy wanted a simple yet elegant scheme based mainly on white and green and
her favorite flowers: Lysianthis and Orchids.
The bouquet had a touch of purple that made the bride even more special.

After a moving ceremony and some pictures in the charming and very Italian setting of Lake Orta the whole group left Orta to reach Lake Maggiore.

Here’s the surprise!
A boat in Stresa was waiting for them to take the group to Isola Bella for stunning pictures in the park and by the palace!
A wonderful and unique setting for wedding pictures.
Photos were taken by Enrico Mocci by ArtefotoArona and his staff and they are all beautiful and romantic!
But the surprises are not finished.

After the tour on Isola Bella a bigger boat took the group for a wonderful tour on Lake Maggiore with a rich and delicious aperitif on board.

The tour ended to the lovely Restaurant Verbano on Pescatori Island where a private royal table was waiting for Lucy and Mike’s reception.

Just few minutes drive from Lake Garda there is Venice.
Here boat is the only way to get around, especially on a wedding day. Francesca and Nicola’s wedding was celebrated in a secluded and exclusive island of the lagoon!

You can imagine bride’s excitement and happiness, when she got onto the water taxi to get to the wedding ceremony!

Francesca and Nicola choose to celebrate their union in the beautiful Church of Santa Fosca. It was built around the IX century with a Venetian-Byzantine style on the Torcello island which is situated between the worldwide famous Murano and Burano villages.

They were looking for a very special, important and cosy venue, were they could be away from tourists of Venice but where they could still enjoy its timeless beauty and secret. This venue has a special aura of majesty and enabled couples and their guests to share something very intimate and beautiful.

Torcello satisfied their desires. Ancient, small fishermen village, where everything is closely – including the restaurant where Francesca and Nicola’s reception was held! Here you will feel the simplicity and authenticity of the past!

Our photographer Riccardo Bestetti, was able to follow bride and groom discretely to catch the most important moments with their delicate and ephemeral emotional nuances. We especially appreciated Riccardo Bestetti’s black and white shots, the dramatic contrast showing the pathos of emotions: love, tenderness, joy.

He was able to add an touch of timeliness to the whole ceremony while capturing an unexpected point of view of situations! When a group of kayaks gathered in front of the restaurant patio, Riccardo Bestetti made it look like as if they were actually there to bring their homage to the new couple!

They travelled across many little villages but non of them was exactly what they had in mind.

THE EPIPHANY…
On a Sunday of the beginning of April Cinzia and Giovanni (Ci and Gio) reached Orta San Giulio village….just a sight….the place they were looking for! The one of the dream, a tiny cosy village. Just amazing! And what about St. Julius Island with its legends, monastery?… This is only the beginning…

THEN…
How to arrange it all living at more than 100 km far from home?
How could they find the church, the restaurant, the priest, the best florist and photographer? Now the dream need to come true!

INTERNET…
Italian Lakes Wedding is site where you can find a lot of wedding planning information it is only a web site. This is not true and it is just here were we found our guardian angels. They are professional, discrete and most of all new Ci and Gio’s friends.

THE CHURCH…
Ci and Gio really wanted a Romanic church without many frescoes on the ceiling.
And here the wedding planners‘ answer comes: Santa Maria of Luzzara church no more than 10 minutes drive from Orta village.
Just perfect! A Romanic church on a lower level in respect to the main road right in the green. A little and single nave with some frescoes inside and outside. This is Ci and Gio’s church!

WAITING…
Gio and three of his friends leave home some days before, reaching Orta and waiting for Ci and all the other guests.
Gio spent some lovely days in Orta waiting for his wife to be to come! How exciting!
Ci leaves on Saturday morning. She can’t wait to be in Orta. After three years living together staying far from the person she loves makes her missing him a lot!
After months checking weather forecasts Ci and Gio really hope for a lovely sunny day… but they are sure that someone is looking at him from the above.

4 SEPTEMBER 2010: THE DAY…
The day has come, sunny, beautiful!
The church was just amazing with all floral decorations Ci and Gio planned.
There were lovely green buxus and white roses everywhere.
Sound of violins in the background created a bucolic atmosphere.
What a surprise! Ci arrives from the top of the hill with her dad holding her tight!
After giving her away the ceremony starts with Don Alberto conducting it.
The ceremony was nice, fresh. Everybody liked it, even for the ones who do not come often to the church!
And Ci and Gio are now married!

Some pictures in wonderful village of Orta and then a surprise for all 24 guests: a boat tour on the lake sipping Prosecco and looking at a wonderful sunset on the shores. Ci and Gio are seated at the back of the boat enjoying such an amazing day!

For Ci and Gio is like being is a movie or in a Renoir’s painting in a timeless location with all the people they love around them. It is a perfect day!
After the boat tour on the lake another surprise for all! Ci and Gio and their guests reached St. Julius Island. It is named the Island of Silence and it is such a mystic place with its narrow road, a single little show, big convent and church and most of all a rustic traditional restaurant.
And here another surprise for all! Ci and Gio told everyone that this stop was just for a little aperitif but after going down on the terrace…. wow!

An evocative atmosphere created by floral designers of La Piccola Selva. A royal table decorated with red roses petals, arrangements with floating candles and some lanterns hanged on the ceiling. The lake as background, the fresh scent of flowers, the little details on the table and the music of the violins….

Now we wake up from our dream and we speak in first person!
The best comment we got was from one of our guests few days after the wedding describing the day: “You cannot tell it… you had to live it!”
This is exactly what we thought. We did not want being to grand easy to get and to describe. We just wanted to have for our wedding some moments of pure happiness with simple elegance. That fine, romantic and bright day will be timeless for us and our relatives and friends, always living in our minds, eyes, ears and hears.

Amy and Kevin are both Americans and they choose the wonderful scenarios of Lake Maggiore for their Italian Wedding.

For Italian Lakes Wedding Team our musicians of Koinè String Quartet were present. They created the perfect soundtrack for this lovely event on the lake shores with their enchanting music.

It was just amazing playing in such a wonderful and romantic frame.
The weather seemed to be grey but at the end the sun came out unexpectedly just few minutes before the ceremony. The sun was just as a guest invited by bride and groom and He could not say no!
Silvia – Koinè String Quartet

This wedding was arranged between Stresa and Pallanza with a Belle Epoque style of Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées in Stresa and spectacular Villa Rusconi in Pallanza.

Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées is one of the best and most luxury hotels on Lake Maggiore. It is located on Stresa lakeside facing Borrome Islands. The hotel recalls golden times of Belle Epoque thanks to its frescos and plasters.

Blue lake was the background together with the magic sun of this perfect day!

We would like to tell you about Amy and Kevin’s wedding thanks to precious shots taken Marine Fonteyne, the lovely photographer who gave us the pictures of the event.

This is a perfect example of an American wedding with an Italian flavor!

A refined couple from Chicago, in love with Italy , especially with Lago Maggiore, choose this place to celebrate their union at Villa Rusconi Clerici – Verbania Pallanza.

Every single detail was thought with extremely good taste & finesse.
The day was spectacular and, as the hours passed by, the sky got bluer and the sun shined, perfect conditions for an open air celebration!

The couple & guests were staying at Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées in Stresa and sailed in typical lake boats to the Villa waiting for the arrival of the bride & brides-maids.
The time when the bride boarded the little boat reminded… a Fellini’s movie!

At Pallanza, the grooms were blessed in an open-air ceremony by a protestant pastor as the sun was shining over the lake and a little orchestra was playing classic music … an extremely spiritual scene!
The whole event has been perfectly set up with a extremely good taste, matching the American traditions with the Italian charm!

The dinner has been held in a separated covered part of the garden and the night was closed with the magical atmosphere created by hundreds of candles floating in the lake!

Of course it had to be a special day – We think all brides do have this idea!

After a long day visiting all possible locations Stephanie and Thomas decided for the fabulous Villa Teodolinda at Laglio, Lake Como.
Who knows, if they thought of their important neighbourhood, George Clooneys house is just 500m away from this place.

The next steps was to choose a very special place for their civil ceremony. We proposed Ossuccio where the celebration is held under their historic arcades. So this was an outside-ceremony, almost open air. And the vice-major put all her emotions into her text, Romana as interpreter almost had tears in her eyes, when Stephanie and Thomas had to say yes in front of all their 45 guests.

A very nice detail of their wedding day was the boatstrip. Villa Teodolinda is right on the lake and so came out boat to pick up all the guests at the house-owned jetty. Just a trip of 35 minutes and we arrived at Ossuccio, where the communal jetty is only 20m away from their arcades. And really, everybody enjoyed the trip by boat, to see all famous villas from the lakeside and not looking for parking places along the small street that curses around Lake Como.

In front of the arcades is a lawn and a kiosk, so it was planned to have a refreshment after the wedding right there.

For the main reception we all turned back by boot and arrived at Villa Teodolinda, right in time for the marvellous aperitivo in the garden, that was prepared with elegance and cure for details by Maurizio Bruschi from Savoir Faire. Small portions of typical Italian fingerfood, fashionable monoportions in glasses, ostriches with Gingerbeer, all to be looked at with surprise and then eaten with even more gusto.

Around 7pm it was time for the dinner, served in the elegant downstairs room of the villa. Cosy ambience created by the hundreds of tealights and wonderful flower compositions. And even this bride adapted the Italian tradition of handing out a tiny bonboniere with personal names of each guest on it.

Before finishing, let me speak of the cake. It was made of 50 cups, so all guests had their own little mini-wedding cake. But still there was the upper cake big enough, so that Stephanie and Thomas cut do their cutting of the cake.

All finished with happy bride and groom and even happier guests who enjoyed the whole nicely programmed but not tiring day together.

When I first met Lisa and Darren I was touched by their enthusiasm. They such a nice and solar couple. When I showed them Villa Rusconi Lisa’s eyes sparkled and I knew that that was the right the right place for them!
Then almost a year wonderful year of planning followed. And I have to admit we developed a very special relationship that ended to consider each other like good and old friends!

We wanted our wedding to be relaxed but an experience our guests would never forget and I think we achieved this 110 percent!  Our friends are still raving about it now!
The setting of course is stunning and couldn’t fail to impress.

Lisa decided to getting ready with her friends to closer Grand Hotel Majestic.

The hotel is very close to the villa and she had the possibility to have some first pictures in the wonderful garden of the hotel itself and then taking a boat for its pier to reach the wedding venue by boat with her friends and her father.

Wedding ceremony was arranged in the garden of the villa and blessed with a great sunny day.

Diane Wheeler was conducting the ceremony for them. Diane says about the couple:

Lisa and Darren are wonderful people and Lisa wins my vote as the most relaxed bride of the year!
She was trusting and flexible in her approach towards the content of the ceremony and entirely open to suggestions.
The fact that both were willing to trust me as their Celebrant meant that they were free to simply enjoy the moment.

As as far as the ceremony she also adds:

During the ceremony they were clearly moved and appeared to be absorbing every single word… I made sure that Lisa’s affection for ‘Clair de Lune’ was reflected in the ceremony and the quartet did an excellent job by intuitively playing this piece during key moments of emotional intensity. Their guests  were also a great asset because they were enthusiastic participants. The vibe was romantic and fun… it was definitely one of those ceremonies that will remain in my memory for being complete in every sense.

I adore performing ceremonies in this perfect spot by the lake and Lisa and Darren’s ceremony was one of the highlights of this year for me personally. I am so happy to have had the opportunity to return yet again to be a part of another wonderful experience!

Fuchsia Aqua roses and white hydrangeas were the main character of Lisa and Darren’s wedding. Monika and I created such a pretty and romantic decoration for them.
From the very first contact via email Lisa had very clear ideas, in a short time we defined all the decorations for the wedding including the bridal bouquet.
It was a wonderful compact and rounded shaped bouquet made with Aqua roses and white hydrangeas with a little touch of elegance: mini white callas.

After the ceremony there was a rich aperitif to follow served in the garden of the villa but there was another surprise to come!

Lisa wanted from the very beginning a boat trip for all the group following the aperitif. So we rented a big boat to take them all for a wonderful trip across Borromeo Islands and Lake Maggiore coasts.
The boat is surely a perfect place to have a nice aperitif.
It has a lounge area inside and outside to make the trip a unique experience!
Some waiters served Prosecco and canapes and they also had some music on a great idea for sure!

My favourite part was the boat trip on the lake, I think this was a real ‘wow factor’ and really showed off the islands and surroundings. We didn’t want to just give a ‘free bar’ we wanted our guests to experience the beauty of the Italian Lakes.

At the end of the tour and after few pictures beautifully taken by Photo27 the group had a great dinner in the pavillion of the villa.

The catering and service was outstanding, our speeches ran over a little, ok a lot(!), and I was concerned the next course might be ruined, but they managed to bring out hot and high quality food as soon as the speeches were finished.

After that as we said in Italy “night is young”!
Lisa Darren and the all the group had a great fun in the cellar of the villa with open bar, a rich Italian friandies buffet and lot of dances!

We want to thank the DJ, he did a top job in getting everyone dancing, the photos are hilarious!

The party was a great fun for all even for the dj, photographers, catering company and planners!

I usually leave the group having fun after the wedding cake cut and reception but they were such a great group that they completely involved the dj, Photo27 Team and ourselves in the party!

First comes love… then comes planning!

Since their first visit on Lake Como, Antonin & Louise fell in love with the idea of a wonderful party at a Beach Club the night before the Big Day.
The dream came finally true.

The Beach Club is easily reachable by boat and Antonin & Louis arrived at the venue directly from the Lake with Antonin as boat captain.
Louise looked gorgeous in her trendy short white dress!

The first part of the evening was arranged on the beach side with some background music, champagne to drink and finger foods.

Moroccan furniture and elegant marquees were a perfect frame for a lounge party.

The whole group moved to the restaurant for the dinner where exquisite food was served under the charming white marquee embellished with chandeliers and trendy white chairs.
After the dinner, toasts and speeches Antonin & Louise and their guests were ready for dancing!

This venue is really charming and Antonin & Louise’s group were really stylish! They all danced until late at night and the weekend had just begun.

Orta is a pretty little village. It is completely pedestrian, medieval, facing quiet lake and it is tiny St. Julius Island.

Best option is a romanic civil ceremony to Villa Bossi. We suggest to opt for a wedd day when narrow roads of Orta village are less crowded and more intimate.
You will discover real Italy here. You can choose to get ready in one of the lovely hotels in Orta overlooking the lake.

Bride could arrive alone with a rowing boat while groom is waiting for her to Villa Bossi. Just like Suzanne and Russell did.

They stayed to Villa Crespi to get ready. Then they had a romantic ceremony to Villa Bossi and after a romantic boat tour on the lake, they landed to the restaurant on St. Julius Island for a cosy dinner for the two of them.

The same choice was taken by Bronwen and Josh – we mentioned about this lovely couple is a recent post Monika wrote.

They came from Australia to get married here. They did not tell anybody about that. This is what a real elope!
It was the most romantic wedding of all and it was also the starting point of a one month long honeymoon across Italian country: Portofino, Tuscany, Amalfi Coast. What a great idea!

Marcus and Rebecca did the same but added more. They took the occasion to have a special dinner to Villa Crespi which has a 2 Michelin restaurant inside.
A romantic ceremony to Villa Bossi first and then a romanic and gourmand dinner to celebrate this event.

There are many special little corners to celebrate a wedding for two on Lake Orta. The location will make it even more special thanks to its intimacy cosines and quaint style.

Once the location was decided, it could start the teamwork of the Russian and Italian wedding planners. Misha, the head of the Russian wedding planner team, was the creative author of the event, ensuring to respect the Russian traditions very important both for the spouses and the guests. While the Italian team was responsible for the scene, the decorations and the realization of the creative ideas together with our trusted, professional suppliers. After a lot of working hours during the day and night, videoconferences through skype with the spouses, and finally the BIG day has arrived. Actually, it was not just the day itself, but a complete weekend with 3 days program, full of surprises for the guests…

After an exciting and funny treasure hunting in Venice, the wedding party arrived in Desenzano the night before. Followed by a hectic morning with the preparations, the guests arrived In the villa, where a refreshing rich aperitif welcomed them in the loan area, with delicious fingerfood and lot of champagne to admire the scene on comfortable sofas and pillows. Little white fans were offered to the women, to be able to support better the hot temperature. Soft jazz music gave background to the peaceful moment. Then the special wedding guest ( a tradition in Russia) called the guests to join him in front of the stage, decorated with the romantic white huppah and lively red flowers in huge white glass vases.

After the entrance of the Groom and the Bridesmaids, finally Olesya has appeared on the water, in a little fishing boat. A man in a sailor’s striped vest was rowing the boat, then slowed down in front of the guests to allow to everybody the celebrate the Bride’s arrival. Then the boat went to the pier, where Mothers of the groom and the bride met Olesya, holding candles in their hands.

After the romantic ceremony under the huppah, the guests took place at the tables, decorated with a fabulous flower cup in the middle and apples signaling the places of each guests. And this is the point when the wedding started to be very different from the italian weddings: in the breaks between the different plates of the dinner, various entertaining activities ensured that the guests are having fun. They had “fake” waiters turning up as singers with traditional italian songs, a little “group work” to build sketches with objects taken from different nations’ wedding traditions, a creative corner where every guests could create his/her own personalized venetian mask, a caricaturist to make funny drawing of the participants. But the main spectacle was the first dance of the newly wed spouses, who danced a romantic classical ballet piece (as both of them are found of classical ballet, and the Bride practicing also actively this beautiful art).

Obviously, fireworks couldn’t be missing to complete this very special evening, together with a romantic slideshow projection of the photos of Olesya & Fedor in Venice, few days before the wedding. Music and dance closed the event, while the surprise limousine (organized by the groom) didn’t come to take the spouses to their hotel to their first night as husband and wife….

And it still did not finish: the day after a relaxing boat trip was offered to the guests to exploit better lake Garda before leaving our beautiful lakeshores.

We take the opportunity to say a big thank you for the Russian wedding planner team, and all our suppliers for this amazing weekend, and we wish again all the best and forever love to Olesya & Fedor!
