Britta from Creative Wedding – Italian Lakes Wedding tries to explain what a wedding planner needs to know to give good advice and a first cost overview.

It is always nice to get the emails from a future bride or groom, so I am excited and want to start immediately to write back to them with millions of ideas I have in my head.
But before writing back, it is necessary to review what this new couple did write about their expectations and wishes for their big day.

The more information I get from a couple, the more focused and precise tips and advices I can tell them. Let me explain what is important to know:

BUDGET

An approximate budget together with an approximate number of guests is helpful to understand which region of Italy maybe right and what kind of location is affordable. It is clear to me that you have no exact figures as you are only at a starting point. But still some approximate thoughts you made for yourself and this is helpful for me to think what to propose.
Do not be afraid to ask for a low budget wedding, there are certainly possibilities for each kind of budget!

STYLE AND AMBIENCE

I am sure that you already had first looks into wedding magazines or you were always dreaming of your big day. So if you tell me about those ideas and dreams, about colours, about the ambience, about friends and family and what they expect from you, this helps to understand if your budget can match this or what would be suitable alternatives to get near your dreams.

REGION OF ITALY

If you have certain memories of a special region of Italy, tell them please. So I do understand better, why you choose certain landscapes, cities, cultures and can develop them together with my proposals.

CIVIL OR CHURCH WEDDING

when I ask about citizenship or the background of your religion, this is not meant to be curious.
But different nationalities have different ways of preparation for the burocracy for a civil wedding here in Italy. And for the church weddings, as we mainly have catholic churches in Italy with quite a strong link to Rome and the Pope, it is important to know where you are coming from. Mainly the catholic parishes in Italy ask for bride AND groom to be catholic, only sometimes it is possible to have a catholic wedding with one partner being of another religion.

DATE

Even if you have no idea yet for a scheduled date for your wedding, think about the several months and the surrounding you want to have for your wedding. It is not only summertime that is enjoyable in Italy, winter weddings in the mountains can be big fun, april and may are fantastic and already lots of sun, autumn like September and October can be still very warm but less touristy than mid-summer.

GUESTS

Number of guests obviously is very important to know to focus on the suitable locations and hotels. But as well what kind of guests are coming. Is it more a formal group of family and lots of business partners, in this case you surely want to make good impression with food and location. Is it a more friend-oriented party, so we focus on having fun, possibilities for late party and not to elegant and too-good-behaviour-places. With these informations I may better propose the right locations for you.

Britta Hartmann-De Marchi is german and therefore the specialist for German, Austrian and Swiss couples coming to the lake Region for getting married.

She herself got married 10 years ago and choose an Italian husband. The Palace of the Town Hall – to celebrate your civil wedding – is in the heart of the old city center, just next to the lovely small port, giving a special frame to your forever love promise to each other. Or do you prefer a catholic ceremony? The little roman church of San Nicolò with frescos from the 3rd century is just on the other side of the port, in direct closeness of the central square. We already talked about Villa San Remigio telling the history of this beautiful 1800 villa. It is now owned by Piemonte region and it is available for marriage thanks to Pallanza town hall.

We would like to tell you about Antonella and Tommy’s wedding.
They choose for their wedding Villa San Remigio, Italian Lakes Wedding Team and Raffaello Mazzoleni photographer one of the more active photographer of the site.
He followed them with his professionalism and experience giving as final result a wonderful whole day reportage full of solar colors right in the perfect frame of Villa San Remigio’s ancient rooms and park.

White and red was bridegroom color scheme and it was underlined by some lovely details such as bride and groom dresses.

As you can see bride wore a pretty 60s style prom dress.
She had a lot of style for sure!

Floral arrangement included 2 big compositions with white lily callas in room’s entrance in order to create a sort of arch.

Bridal bouquet had mini lily callas and Carte Blanche roses in with some variations of light yellow and ivory.

Mayor conducted an evocative ceremony enriched by a moving speech.

After Villa San Remigio bridegroom and their guests moved to a wonderful reception venue. It was an intimate restaurant on Pallanza Port in belle époque style.
The restaurant is tiny but has a lovely garden for your aperitif. We think it could be perfect for your wedding reception in Lake Maggiore.

Together with Castello dal Pozzo, Villa San Remigio is today one of the best destination to celebrate a civil wedding on lake Maggiore.

Villa San Remigio is located on the top of Colle della Castagnola, near Verbania Pallanza and overlooks Lake Maggiore. Its garden was studied and realized from a young couple of lovers. It has a romantic and interesting story.
Musician and poet Marquis Silvio della Valle di Casanova and passionate painter Sophie Browne, after their wedding in 1896 decided to realize their dream, transforming into a villa an old grandparents’ chalet. They renewed the park that became their lover refuge.
After more than 100 years Sophie and Silvio’s dream this wonderful villa is now on the disposal of bridegrooms who want to crown their big day.
Just a touch of continuity and good fortune.
An informal part, a garden and a wood with Mediterranean plants compose the park. They are all inspired by romantic mood of young lovers.
Thirty gardeners worked to build the park during 1910 and 1916 to model the hill, obtaining a great result!
Sophie and Silvio completed their eight hectares garden in 1916 end right after that they opened it to visitors.
They were opened to fixed hours and the entrance was given as charity.
Public opening lasted in 1929.
Villa San Remigio has an articulated structure.
You can have access to the central body from both entrances through internal stairs.
One of the most important rooms is La Sala della Musica (Music Room) with a big piano where usually are held civil celebrations.
Surrounding main room you will find the gothic little room and the humanistic study.
Antique furniture is stunning and precious: doors, frames, fireplaces, and wooden ceilings.
Its Lombardy Baroque façade has beautiful and huge artworks.

At Villa San Remigio sides you will find a balcony from where you will appreciate an amazing view on the Lake. Under the balcony there is a rock gallery used also as Winter garden. This villa is now owned by Regione Piemonte and it is of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola Province headquarter.
During spring and summer weekends gardens are opened to visitors with a single entrance at 10.00 am for a total guided tour of 2 hours.
In order to celebrate a civil bending in the villa you have to book previously.
In this case park and rooms will be on disposal and Mayor of Verbania will be the officer of the celebration.

You will have on your disposal 15000 squared meters of park for your welcome cocktail, the Red Room for dances and music, the terrace for a dinner under the stars, the main room for the wedding toast…. many and different are the solutions that could characterize your civil wedding at Dal Pozzo Castle.

The total capacity of internal spaces is of 240-seated people, while in the external there is space for about 800-seated people with the possibility to have canopies or tents of different types.
