Together with Orta San Giulio, Pettenasco is one of the most touristy location on Lake Orta.
Mild weather, pleasant and relaxing atmosphere, charming Medieval House located in the main square, a long and relaxing walk on the shores of the lake among villas, gardens and quiet little beaches… these are the best features of Pettenasco and let’s not forget its lovely hotels!

When we speak about hotels in Pettenasco we really need to mention Primatesta family that manage some of the best hotels in the area since 1930.It is a guaranty of courtesy, experience and professionalism.
Hotel Giardinetto is one of Primatesta family pearls.

Restaurant has wonderful terraces on the shores and the cuisine that you can taste here is really good and creative. Cellar has more than 450 labels and young smiling and professional staff will welcome you!

During summer an outdoor gazebo and tables with flowers and candles make it a romantic venue for your dinners and your special moments. Continue Reading »

As the administrator for Italian Lakes Wedding it is rare that I have the opportunity to meet our brides and grooms ‘to be’ in person. Face to face meetings are usually the perogative of the wedding planner, floral designers, photographers and other professionals involved with the wedding day itself. I was fortunate enough to have met Lina quite by chance during Melanie and David’s ceremony at Villa Rusconi. In my modest opinion Lina and Borja’s wedding at Lake Maggiore was indeed the event of the year, making July 17th 2010 a memorable date!

Lina is a young girl of Chinese origin but 100% Italian. Born and raised in Verbania, she has travelled extensively including Japan, China and The United States before choosing to live with Borja in Spain. What struck me most about Lina was her great enthusiasm and profound affection for her home town and the surrounding area of Lago Maggiore. This played a huge part in her decision to select Verbania as the destination of her wedding day, also because it was an opportuntity to share her love of the area with guests, in order that they too could experience the pleasure of discovering the extraordinary beauty of this area.
Her emotional attachment transformed Lina into a kind of honourary Ambassador for Lake Maggiore, at least for a day!

Lina and Borja’s wedding was indeed a fantastic blend of different cultures and traditions: more than 200 guests coming especially from all over the world attended, notably those from Spain, America, Japan, Italy and China (some of whom are also residents of Italy).

We felt extremely fortunate about how things turned out and had decided that it would be wonderful to marry in my home town, especially because we will spend most of our time in Madrid.
For me Verbania is the place in which I was born as well as a beautiful location. I feel so proud to have been able to share this wonderful place with others who have never visited and perhaps didn’t even know about its existence. All of our friends from elsewhere were very impressed by what they saw and by all the close attention to detail.

Great attention to detail was definitely a main feature of Lina and Borja’s wedding. Nothing was left to chance… from the wedding decorations for the ceremony and dinner, the video set up complete with steady cam and crane, to the flower arrangements, music and above all… the bride’s especially designed wedding dress and groom’s unique apparel.

My wedding dress was designed by Rosario Diaz, a stylist from Madrid. Rosario Diaz is an expert in designing and creating individual wedding dresses. We chose Rosario because he exclusively designed a wedding dress for Borja’s sister.
The hunt for my own dress started with other ateliers but none of them convinced me completely. Rosario showed us various kinds of fabric that had just arrived and I completely fell in love with material with a floral motif and ‘shredded’ effect made by laser that became the base of the gown. Today I have the pleasure to introduce you a lovely Italian couple: Marialisa and Matteo.
Their wedding was a real mid summer wedding arranged between Mountains and Lakes.
First the ceremony on Church of Madonna del Boden and then down to Stresa on Lake Maggiore shores.

Church of Madonna del Boden is located on the road leading to small village of Ornavasso (close to Verbania – Piemonte). It climbs on top of one of the most spectacular Alps mountain: Monte Massone. From Mt. Massone peak the view is gorgeous. You can see Mt. Rosa, Mt. Weissmiess, Mt. Adamello and Mt. Bernina. On South view runs over River Po Plain and on 5 lakes such as Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore. Just amazing!
Church of Madonna del Boden has been built on 500 mt of altitude right inside chestnuts woods. A fresh oasis that Marialisa and Matteo simply loved during the hot August day of their wedding. Continue Reading »

Flower designers like myself consider that flower arranging in a location can be one of the most creative moments of a wedding reception. The table centre is an essential element which often distinguishes the style of the event, as do the floral decorations for the aperitif or buffet.

Clearly, quite apart from the flowers and finger food, the ambiance is of major importance too. Your wedding reception on Lake Orta deserves the Ristorante Hotel L’Approdo at Pettenasco which offers a stunning gazebo on the lake shore, with a view over the Bagnera Gulf and the Orta promontory, with Villa Crespi’s evocative minaret standing out on the horizon.

Maria and Simone are a Hispano-Italian couple who chose the Hotel L’Approdo for their wedding reception. They decided on two large floral arrangements placed on a tall tapering glass base for the aperitif table. I wanted the most natural, free style possible on this occasion, with dominating shades of pink and white.
The finishing touch was given by the pink Gypsophila and the Godetia, a gorgeous summer flower which is not all that well known but is extremely versatile. Continue Reading »

Eleonora and David got married on the 27th of September. This was a special event planned in association with Italian Lakes Wedding Team. You can have a look to DAVID AND ELEONORA’S PHOTO GALLERY realized by Diego & Estella Photographers – Photo27.com.
The Ceremony took place in the beautiful setting of Villa Rusconi Clerici in Verbania Pallanza, lake Maggiore.
I would need very few words to describe what happened at their wedding (beautiful, romantic, full of joy and feeling, with everything going as planned…). Much longer is the description of the effort and the lovely care and attention to every detail that Eleonora and David put in the planning of their special day, and to the music in particular!
Eleonora contacted me by email some months before the wedding date, in May to be exact.
She and David decided almost at once that my jazz repertoire was exactly what they wanted for the aperitif. But they were undecided for the music for the ceremony: “I don’t remember if I mentioned it” writes Eleonora in one of the many emails we exchanged, “the ceremony will be Catholic and Jewish together…”.
Therefore not only we needed to find music that Eleonora and David liked, that could accompany their ceremony, underlining the special moments, giving everybody emotions and so on (as usual!). We most of all had to find pieces that were not too closely connected to one of the two religions or traditions represented during the ceremony, songs or music that could be impartial. Of the recent new hotels in the region of the Italian lakes, the Hotel Cortese in Armeno represents a uniquely successful example of the skillful blending of tradition and modernity. A perfect synthesis which, when expressed through the charm of this authentic architectural jewel at the heart of an incomparable location, provides the ideal setting in which to celebrate your wedding in refined style.
The use of local stone, precious woods and wrought-iron (typical crafts of the area) create a unique and charming atmosphere in which time seems to stop, allowing us to recover the pleasures of life at a slower pace – and thus to savour that most special of happy days.
Immersed in the tranquil scenic surroundings of Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore, only minutes away from the village of Orta San Giulio, the town of Stresa and the spectacular panorama of Mount Mottarone, the Hotel Cortese enjoys the magical atmosphere of a little historic village: the use of local stone, precious woods and wrought-iron (typical crafts of the area) create a unique and charming atmosphere in which time seems to stop, allowing us to recover the pleasures of life at a slower pace – and thus to savour that most special of happy days.
