It was special also for wedding images: Helen and Daehun chose Luca Rajna – Ajn Luca Rajna Progetti Fotografici – as their photographer. We met him in occasion of Loretta and Scott’s wedding on Lake Maggiore last year. Luca Rajna is a creative and innovative photographer.

For this occasion all images has been edited with a special technique called Polaroid Transfer.
Polaroid is the legendary camera of the 70s which was able to develop pictures immediately.
Polaroid transfer technique is simply pressing a just-shot photo with a Polaroid on watercolor paper. The result is really artistic an vintage with some irregolar shaped edges. Luca Rajna created the same effect for great shots of Helen and Daheun’s wedding. Have a look to PHOTO GALLERY with 70 polaroid transfers photo in it.

Helen was born in Illinois she is optimist and loves nature. She is vegetarian and loves colors and scent of flowers. After her degree to Columbia University in Manhattan she moved to South Corea where met Daehun her groom.
Helen loves South Corea and people there. After the wedding she came back over there where she teach English to elementary school to Siheung City.

Helen wanted to get married and have a lovely honeymoon across Europe. She never been over here.
It was not easy choose the right destination… then browsing on the internet Helen found out Italian Lakes Wedding and decided immediately for Madonna del Sasso church.

This lovely church was built on a rock right above Lake Orta. Madonna del Sasso church is one of the most wanted churches on the lakes and one of the most scenographic in Italy.
The inside of the church is grand, rich of works of art of 1500 and 1600.

Helen and Daehun’s wedding was intimate and simple.
Together with the couple there were only Helen’s parents, two bridesmaids (Maria Isabel and Stephanie) and Katie bride’s best friend.

There was another guest: Nellie the cute doggy girl who is the guide of Helen’s mother Wilma who is sightless.
For this reason Helen chose for the church arrangements lavander and freesias so her mother could smell the perfume of the nature!

Deep love for nature also for the bridal dress choice. it was really eco friendly.

Helen describes it like this:

My dress is made by Lindee Daniel, who is in California. It is made from two types of organic peace silk. This means, the silk worms are allowed to naturally complete their life cycle rather than being boiled alive so as to preserve the cocoons. The silk is woven by a women’s cooperative in India. Her label used to be called Puridee, but now she is changing it to her name, Lindee Daniel. The design I got is called the “Rebecca,” named after Rebecca from the Bible. It is her most popular design. She made it to measure for me and mailed it to me in Korea. 

I wanted an organic dress, so it made shopping for one easier. I didn’t have to look at millions and millions. I fell in love with this dress as soon as I found it, which was only the second day I started searching online for dresses.

Cuff Helen wore was really original. It was created by Estonian artist Krista Silvia Raak.

I am inspired from different vintage materials and of course – colors! I love all colors and feel excited about to create different color harmonies. I get lots of ideas from historical costumes- ball gowns and accessories of past centuries-Baroque, Victorian Era and Art Nouveau rich decorated dresses and elaborate embroideries. Sometimes I watch movies over and over to see beautiful vintage dresses exposed there : I love embroidered flowers- roses, orchids and all kind of fantasy flora. Old mansion interiors, antique costume jewelry and vintage millinery techniques are an endless source of inspiration.

Helen adds:

The cuff is by Krista Raak in Estonia. Her cuffs are unique designs, hand embroidered and beaded from vintage materials. She also made the earrings worn by my friend Katie in the flowered dress. The hair comb is from Million Design Company in the UK.

Ceremony in Madonna del Sasso church was really cosy accompanied by touching Psalm 104 of the Holy Bible read by Maria Isabel.
There was a light Smentana’s Moldau music as background played by a string duo. Smentana’s Moldau was written by Bohemian composer Bedrich Smetana, ad brought to fame by Italian tenor Giuseppe Cenci with Fuggi fuggi da questo cielo as title.

The violins also played the Bach Double [violin concerto], first movement. It brought back a lot of memories for me and my mom of Suzuki Institutes at Steven’s Point, WI.

At the end of the ceremony Helen and Daehun went out of the church with Mendlesshon Wedding March as background. Their guest threw petals and lavender. Mother of the bride Wilma was more then happy!

Nellie the little dog wanted to join the party too. Isn’t it cute this picture her paw together with bride and bridesmaids?

Madonna del Sasso church yard is a special place to have wonderful pictures and Helen and Daehun did not want to miss the occasion!

Bridal bouquet was really lovely. It reflected the spirit of Helen and Daehun’s wedding.
It was created by Paola one of the floral designer of La Piccola Selva with Red Passion roses and amazing Dominique callas in a bordeaux-purple shade.

Helen and Daehun reception has been arranged on St. Julius Island and cruising from Orta to the Island Daehun was the captain of the ferry too!

We told you about many times about St. Julius Island, it is a magic and ideal for more wedding pictures.
St Julius restaurant hosted bride and groom with their guests with a vegetarian and perfect eco-friendly menu.

When lights went down the group got back to Orta village.
On Summer nights Orta is really lively and appealing. Helen and Daehun took another chance to remember forever their special eco-friendly wedding on Lake Orta.

Italian Lakes Wedding Team follow the event with Valentina Lombardi and Stefania Zen as coordinators. Stefania Zen is our planner on Lake Bracciano and Rome but she often follows some weddings over Northen Lakes. So for once she forgot about Sistine Chapel and Odescalchi Castle to get into romantic atmospheres of Lake Orta… but always with a great success!

Our readers surely remember that we spoke about this wedding in our Just Married section. We promised a longer post and here we are.
We come back to you speaking about Victoria and Richar’s wedding thanks to Enrico Mocci, the photographer bride and groom chose for their day.
Enrico Mocci gave us in short time the full service of the event. So I selected some lovely images but do not forget to see the entire PHOTO GALLERY. You will find 32 great shots describing this special day.

Victoria and Richard are a lovely couple came from UK and as often all decorations were decided via email. I had the pleasure to meet Victoria only few days before the wedding. She is a lovely and pretty girl.

Since the very first emails Victoria knew what she wanted: roses in two color with a predominance of red.

Red, color of passion and love was the main theme of all floral arrangements I created for Victoria and Richard. Red was in bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquet, groom’s tie and buttonholes and of course in the decorations of the ceremony.

Another color was present too: blue.
it was not in the flowers but on groom and groomsmen’s suits, bridesmaids’ dresses, and Victoria’s father suit too. They were all in blue with a touch of red!

Civil ceremony was held in the gardens of Villa Bossi. It was an intimate and cosy ceremony with three moving wishes made by Victoria’s bridesmaids!

It is more than refined and surely very elegant. It perfectly matches her face and her wedding dress: a masterpiece of style!

After the ceremony Victoria and Richard took the occasion to have lovely pictures in the narrow roads in Orta village and St. Julius Island.

The party was held in a little restaurant just on the shores overlooking St. Julius Island.
Victoria threw her bouquet to start the party!
Once at their tables guests found a sweet surprise: a little rose blossom in their napkins. Little details made an event charming and pretty!

Victoria and Richard’s wedding was certainly one of the most elegant wedding I worked for in the first part of 2010 Summer season wedding!

Villa Carlotta is located in Tremezzo, close by of 2 famous destination weddings locations on Lake Como: Bellagio and Varenna. Villa Carlotta is one of the most famous villas on lake.
It is a wonderful place where you will be able to appreciate its structure, its works of art and its wide park with many tropical and exotic trees and coloured flowers. In spring blossoms of Azaleas and Rhododendros are really simply amazing.

The wedding civil ceremony can be celebrated inside the Villa in one of the rooms, or outdoor, in one of the beautiful terrace. “Sala dell’amore” (Room of Love), where the ceremony can take be arranged, it is embellished by 2 famous masterpieces representing famous “Amore e Psiche” (Love and Psyche) of Canova school and “Ultimo bacio di Giulietta e Romeo” (Last Kiss of Romeo and Juliet) by Francesco Hayez, one of the most admired painting.

Thanks to the wonderful sunny day, Elisabeth and Oyvind decided to celebrate their wedding outdoor ion the terrace with a great a breathtaking view over Lake Como. About thirty guests were present to the event: relatives and friends coming from both Norway and Sweden.

At the end of the ceremony, Elisabeth and Oyvind took their time for some unforgettable pictures inside Villa Carlotta’s stunning rooms and outdoor, in its amazing gardens.

After a short walk along Tremezzo lakeside, newlyweds and their guests reached a typical Italian Pizzeria for a very informal meal.

During a nice walk on Tremezzo, Elizabeth and Oyvind took the chance to visit a typical Cantina (Wine Cellar) where they could enjoy a delicious glass of Italian wine.
At Tremezzo Pier, newlyweds and their guests left for a funny trip on the lake to reach reached Lenno Town. It is just here where Villa del Balbianello is.

For their reception Elizabeth and Oyvind chose a quaint restaurant on Lenno lakeshore with a beautiful garden and beautiful marquees covered with white delicate fabrics. A really unique atmosphere!

Although our newlyweds’ Big Day is not over yet! An elegant motorboat Colombo Super Indos was waiting for Elisabeth and Oyvind for another fantastic tour of the Lake (this time for our couple only!).

Oyvind also tried the inebriation of driving this legendary motorboat of the 70’s! During the boat trip, Elisabeth and Oyvind couldn’t resist and asked for a lot of pictures with Balbianello Villa as magnificent background of their wedding photographic service.

It has been really a long day, but full of joy, fun and sun! This was exactly what Elisabeth and Oyvind were looking for their wedding on the Lake Como!

You already know Fiona and Scott. We introduced them at the end of July in our Just Married section with some photo preview of their wedding.
Bride and gromm wanted Studio Artefoto Omegna by Raffaello Mazzoleni as their photographer helped by skilled photographer Moreno Nicoloso.

Today we are showing you the best images of Fiona and Scott’s wedding.

Now let Fiona introduce herself!

My family are from Scotland although I grew up in London, and Scott’s family are from England. We lived very close by to each other, and even went to the same school, but didn’t meet until 6 years ago!

Fiona and Scott’s wedding took place on Isole di Brissago entirely.
It is a group of Islands located just 5 minutes cruise from Porto Ronco.
There is the little Island of St. Apollinare (closed to public but kept as natural park) and Isola Grande (or St. Pancrazio) that at the beginning of 1900 has been transformed in a wide botanic park by German trader Max Emdem. The view here is grand: a 2.5 hectares park with more than 1500 species of plant coming from all over the world!

We chose Isole di Brissago because we come to Ticino often as my parents have a house in Locarno. We can see the Islands from the house, and knew it would mean we could see the place of our special day each time we visit. We felt very relaxed during our visits to the Island and this was very important to us.

On Isola Grande there is grand Villa Emden. This is a luxury palace built in Neoclassic style. It was built in 1927 with 30 rooms, a winter garden (organgerie), Roman bath (33 metres long) and a pier, all still existing.
Today Villa Emden host an exclusive restaurant and an exhibition, cultural and entertainment area which can host different kind of events.

Fiona and Scott’s big day begun early in the morning.
Bride and groom and all guest were to Hotel La Meridiana in Ascona. They all took a lovely motorboat to reach Brissago Islands.

All event took place to Villa Emdem: from the civil ceremony, the aperitif in the garden and the dinner in the wide golden room with huge windows with lake view.

The Islands are so beautiful and we could have the whole Island to ourselves from 6 O’Clock in the evening. We had a choice of areas in which to have our drinks reception, so chose to have two, one before the ceremony and one afterwards.
All of the staff on the Island, both from the office and the restaurant, were very helpful and friendly, which was important to us.
Charlotte from the restaurant, Mascia and Brigitte from the office on the Islands were amazing, and helped very much with the planning. Brigitte gave our guests a talk about the history of the island during our welcome drinks reception which we had in the Roman Garden. We couldnt’ have managed our day without Charlotte – she was on hand all day to help us, and was very organised and good fun throughout. Our friends and family also played a huge part in helping us to organise getting everything to the Island and back again.

Musical entertainment, from ceremony to dinner was arranged by wonderful voice of English singer Gemma Turner.

Our singer was called Gemma Turner, she’s from England but was happy to travel to Switzerland for the wedding and said she’d love to go back and visit again.
She is a classically trained singer, and gave us lots of suggestions for songs she could sing, her repertoire was mainly classical but with some ballads which we knew were much loved by our family. For my entrance to the ceremony she sang O mio babbino caro. Our family and friends were very complimentary about Gemma, and she helped to make our day and our guests day very special. She has a beautiful voice, and was lovely to deal with all the way through.

Floral arrangements were very special starting from Fiona’s bouquet!
It was made with different dimension of several shades of pastel roses together with a fall of Bear Grass.

Our florist, Fiori di Flora from Locarno, was very creative and made some beautiful flowers for my bridesmaids, myself and also our decorations. She was very friendly and helpful, even though we only decided on the flowers 5 days before the wedding.

Last but not least a special note for the photographer of the event, Moreno Nicoloso from Raffarello Mazzoleni – Studio Artefoto Omegna’s team.

Moreno, was brilliant during the day. He spent a lot of time to look for the right light for some of our pictures, but also was very unobtrusive in taking the pictures. We’ve seen three of the pictures already (on Italian lakes Wedding’s post Just Married on Brissago Islands) and love each of them. He was a very lovely man, and all of our guests liked him too!

Fiona and Scott’s wedding went on until late at night: dances, music and lot of fun!

We were very lucky that the weekend of our wedding there was a fireworks festival, so after our meal we went outside to watch these before starting our party. After our wedding, Scott & I stayed at Garni La Meridiana in Ascona and drank some vintage champagne on our terrace, which one of our guests had given us as a gift, whilst opening some cards from our friends and family. This made the perfect end to a very beautiful and special day.

My parents also hosted a drinks evening at our house the night before the wedding, which many of our guests came to, and we spent lots of time with our guests the night after the wedding too. My dad helped by taking friends and family to airports and train stations to make their journeys much easier, and spending all of this time with people meant that we got a whole weekend to enjoy our wedding rather than one day!

Visiting Ticino in the future will now be extra special for us both.

Our best wishes to Fiona and Scott for a lot of happiness from all Italian Lakes Wedding Team.

Church of Madonna del Boden is located on the road leading to small village of Ornavasso (close to Verbania – Piemonte). It climbs on top of one of the most spectacular Alps mountain: Monte Massone. From Mt. Massone peak the view is gorgeous. You can see Mt. Rosa, Mt. Weissmiess, Mt. Adamello and Mt. Bernina. On South view runs over River Po Plain and on 5 lakes such as Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore. Just amazing!

Church of Madonna del Boden has been built on 500 mt of altitude right inside chestnuts woods. A fresh oasis that Marialisa and Matteo simply loved during the hot August day of their wedding.

As floral designer I took care of all flowers arrangements: white was the theme color for the church and bridal bouquet.

For the church I created a lovely arrangement made up of Ice Queen white roses and Lilium Longiflorum. Different heights that matched wonderful white marble altar and balusters of the church. All this white marble gives to the church elegance and brightness enhancing floral arrangements too.
On Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta areas only Churches of Madonna del Boden and Madonna della Bocciola have this pretty feature.

Marialisa wanted for her bouquet a round and compact shape that I created with Ice Queen white roses with some Pittosporum greenery and some Gypsophilia.

Out of the church a woderful vintage red Jaguar was waiting for Marialina and Matteo to take them to Stresa on the lakeshores. From the mountains to the lake in just 30 minutes!

For their wedding reception Marialisa and Matteo chose Villa Aminta in Stresa a luxury ancient Villa which is now an elegant 5 stars hotel.

Wedding reception here is usually arranged on the terrace of the hotel with breathtaking view on Borromeo Gulf and Isola dei Pescatori (Fishermen Island) or in the fine rooms of the Restaurant named “Le Isole” and “I Mori” with lovely gazebo on Lake Maggiore.

For the reception to Villa Aminta I created a fresh centerpiece in pastel colors to match bright frescoes of wonderful I Mori room.
Gerberas, Roses, Aster, Lysianthyus and Lilium : a perfect mix of shapes and pastel colors that matches Marialisa and Matteo’s spirit.

On bride and groom’s table I created a pastel arrangement too but bigger with a long ivy train to match table cloth cover design.

A wonderful sunny day gave the bride and groom and their party, the opportunity to enjoy a lovely aperitif in Villa Aminta gardens.

Loretta and Scott are a very nice couple from England who decided to get married at Lake Maggiore. Both have origins in Italy, both are born in London but the bride’s parents are from Parma and Piacenza and the groom’s father is British but his mother is from Salerno.

Both have Italian origins, that’s why they met for the first time in St Peter’s Italian church in London. After 9 years finally they wished to become husband and wife. Their decision to come to Italy for the wedding was crystal clear, but where? They wanted somewhere which is neither near his or her family backgrounds, so it was the beautiful setting of Villa Rusconi Clerici and the fantastic landscape around Lake Maggiore.

Their choice of photographer was also made with the highest attention, he had to be professional, very special and with a photo-reportage style. Indeed, it is very important to select a good photographer, because what he is producing will last forever.

So it was Luca Rajna, one of the most appreciated and best photographers in the lakes area.

The church for the wedding was San Leonardo’s at Pallanza, built in 1537, it overlooks the Piazza San Leonardo and the lakeshore.
For the flowers Loretta wanted a focus on the main altar with 2 large compositions of ivory Rose Vendela on some high basements of metal.

Then some smaller compositions combined with tulle and organza in white, emerald green and ivory on the ends of each row of pews. This was the colour theme throughout all the decoration, sometimes added by a touch of lilac.

The bridal bouquet of Loretta was round and very compact and resembled the colours used in church, from the white and ivory of the roses into the emerald green of the ribbons that hold it all together, decorated with some pearls here and there.

A fantastic advantage of this church was the small walking distance to Villa Rusconi Clerici, just 300m.
For Loretta and Scott it was easy to decide for the Villa Rusconi Clerici, they were in love with the location from the beginning. It is really a wonderful place as the villa is situated directly on the shore of the lake, has splendid views and a huge garden. As the wedding day was very warm, the welcome drinks were prepared outside on the lakeshore. Accompanied with some wonderful music from a string quartet.

The dinner itself was inside the white gazebo, this is an elegant structure of tents finished with metal that was normally used at the beginning of the 19th hundred century.

Here the theme of the wedding was taken from well known Italian-American films like “La dolce vita” from Federico Fellini, “Once upon a time” from Sergio Leone and “Cinema Paradiso” from Giuseppe Tornatore.

For the decoration on the tables we used compositions that were based on glass structures and around them petals of roses and tealights. But I surely will return and speak more about this part of the marvellous decoration.

When the dinner ended, everybody went over to the tavern where they danced until the early morning.

During the evening, Villa Rusconi Clerici has a very special attraction with all the lights you see along the lake and with a quiet island in front of the villa that gives a romantic touch. What is more exciting for a flower designer than to work in such a wonderful location?

I would like to finish off with a citation of what Loretta and Scott did tell me after the wedding day: “This day was much nicer then we ever were expecting it, this day was a dream”.

Special One: Lake Orta as you’ve never seen before!
it was a wonderful Spring sunny day. Sky was clear with small clouds. Lake water was completely transparent and mountains were green after a long winter.
This was the great scenery for Bevin and Steven’s wedding.
Just the right day to promote this lake!

Special Two: Diego and Estella photographs.
Diego and Estella are two creative and state of the art photographers!
We decided to put them as “Special Event” of the day because their shots were simply great. Let’s have a look to the PHOTO GALLERY with the most beautiful Diego and Estella pictures of Bevin and Steven’s wedding.

Special Three: Villa Gippini, the most exclusive venue on Lake Orta.
Villa Gippini is an ancient villa date back to 1500 located just on the lake shores.
It was built in the medieval center of Orta San Giulio.
Nowadays Hotel San Rocco is the owner of the villa and it rarely allows its utilization for special events, like Bevin and Steven’s wedding.

Villa Gippini is a private venue which not open to public. It created a very intimate atmosphere for the wedding.

Special Four: Bevin’s bridesmaids.
They were all in a elegant but sexy cherry red dress.
The four bridesmaids were all so friendly and smiling. They were able to add a touch of glamour and real fun to the ceremony that sometimes could seem even too serious.

Last but not least: Bevin and Steven!
They were the real main characters of the day!
Bevin is a lovely and friendly Californian girl and Steven a shy and brilliant Irish guy.
They decided to get married in Orta without coming over before. They just fell in love with the beauty of this place looking at the images they saw and stories they read.
When they arrived here they discover something even better they could even though.
They decided for a small party wedding but it was really fun…they got style!

Symbolic ceremony was conducted by Giuseppe Rossi and Diane Wheeler celebrants.
Floral arrangements were created by Monika Andenmatten. They will post soon their thoughts on this wedding too.

Valentina Lombardi is the Italian Lakes Wedding coordinator for Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore area. She follows Italian and foreign bridegrooms who wish to celebrate their wedding in Piemonte and Italian Lakes area.
Valentina is Italian; she has worked in event organization business for years before becoming a wedding planner.
