We recently introduced a lovely venue just on the shores of Lake Orta. This is located just 15 minutes boat from Orta village and it is just on the waters.
It could be a wonderful set for your reception overlooking St.Julius Island and the wonderful bay.
We are talking about L’Ustaria Cà dal Rat.

We had several weddings this 2011 season here but we would love to mention two in particular because they stayed in our hearts.
I picked two events because they are two wonderful examples of how you can plan a wonderful day in Orta with reception to L’Ustaria.
Wonderful pictures taken by Photo27 for both events will explain you better!

First couple is Edel and Kieran.
They are two lovely guys coming from Ireland who wanted a romantic religious ceremony in the church of Sacro Monte of Orta.
Guests were all staying in Orta and to reach the church they opted for the lovely touristy train leaving from Orta main square!

They had a great fun a great ride overlooking the lake and its island!
Bride arrived with a lovely car afterwards.
The ceremony was very touching inside the wonderful church of Sacro Monte and the pictures after the ceremony just stunning with a breathtaking panorama. Continue Reading »

Have you ever had the feeling of knowing someone from the infinite past?
Definitely these are feelings arising when lovers look into each others eyes, lost in rapture, hypnotized by its vastness.
Steve and Sarah flew all the way from UK to find a location that could match their antique and noble acquaintance!

What could be a better place than Italy? A country full of story, sharing with its lovers hidden niches of infinite beauty.
During their visit around the Lake Garda, after visiting many characteristic villages and famous locations,Steve and Sarah came across a tiny well kept village in the North of the Lake called Malcesine. In this location filled with colorful little artisan shops, family run restaurants and the superb surrounding nature, they finally found what they were looking for!
The venue to tie the knot was Scaligero Castle, stately rising from the village promontory! The Castle has a very long and rich history. It had many owners who kept it polished and magnificent through the centuries. It was built in the first millennium by the Lombards and then destroyed and rebuilt by the Franks. From there on, it has been a jewel in the hands either of Republic of Venice, of Austrian-Hungarian Empire, of France and of many Italian lineages. Then it was declared National Monument in 1206.
In this rare pearl set in a fairy tale landscape, Steve and Sarah decided to celebrate their most important event as a couple: their wedding!

When the day finally arrived, everything was ready for their wonderful ceremony, young page boys and flower girls, cheerful guests were waiting for this very important day. Cascades of flowers were awaiting the couple for their vows exchange!

Our skillful photographers from Photo 27 Studio were able to capture unique shots, so delicate and important but so qucik to vanish in a heartbeat. We love especially the following photo, Sarah’s farewell to her previous life and Steve’s waiting, longing to start his new life with Sarah… and finally they exchanged vows and rings! It’s a pleasure for us today to welcome Rossana to our blog, who is employed at the CENTRO DANNEMANN, the exclusive location on Lake Maggiore in Brissago that recently joined the team of Italian Lakes Wedding.
Rossana is going to tell us something about the romantic wedding of Anna Rita and Mario, an italian bridal pair who chose the CENTRO DANNEMANN for their wedding party on the shores of Lake Maggiore.
This wedding took place on a very special day: the 14th of february, the day of those who are in love!
Now it’s time to let Rossana tell us about Anna Rita and Mario’s most unforgettable day, accompanied by the wonderful images, taken by the photographic studio PHOTO27 in Milan.
With our bride and groom Anna Rita and Mario, we travel to Switzerland to spend their most beautiful day with them in the magnificent scenery of Lake Maggiore.

The last look in the mirror, Anna Rita is glowing in radiance, ready to meet her beloved Mario who is eagerly anticipating her at the church!

Following the blue of the lake (and of the car!) we aproach Brissago, the first village after crossing the border to Switzerland: the newly weds are awaited at the CENTRO DANNEMANN which is beautifully decorated for the party, ready to give them a reception in an unforgettable atmosphere.

As we enter the hall, chosen for this very special day, it is visible that every small detail makes the ambiance of the party warm and intimate… Continue Reading »

As you may know, Irish couples are known to be very friendly and loving. Looking at Paul’s and Annette’s wedding, we can only agree with it.

They decided to hold their ceremony in a warm Mediterranean summer in a very special location of Villa Cortine. This is an ancient villa located near the center of little town of Sirmione, a delightful Italian spot, famous for its peculiarity. It is situated in the middle of Lake Garda!
Sirmione and its surroundings is just the perfect scenario to enjoy medieval Italian culture, craftsmanship and fashion habits while filling eyes of nature’s beauty and without having to worry about noise and cars.

Villa Cortine sits upon the hill in the heart of such stunning peninsula, which was rendered immortal by the lyrics of Roman poet Catullo, and dominates the entire basin of Lake Garda.
A centennial park of rare essences and fragrant bushes surround the neo classic style villa built in 1870 by an Austrian nobleman Kurt von Koseritz, officer of art and Italian culture.
The wide park is embellished with nine different fountains and a main one, called Neptune. It greets guests at their entrance just wonderful! At the far end guests can either enjoy Lake Garda’s clear waters or sun bath on the pier of the villa. But Paul and Annette chose this venue also for the superb frescoes and interiors of the palace were precious marbles, byzantine stuccoes and polychromatic decor executed by Brera Academy revive the splendour of the past and delights adults and child.

This beautiful setting is the backdrop to the emotion of the preparations enhanced by a love message from the groom to the bride. Continue Reading »

A spring wedding for Sheila and Colman who celebrated their wedding in the wonderful church of Sacro Monte of Ghiffa.

A stunning view from the church over all the lake was the perfect frame for a sweet catholic ceremony of this lovely Irish couple.
They both came with all family and friends from Ireland to Lake Maggiore to celebrate their big day under the sun and by the shores of this wonderful spot of Italy.

Reception to follow was held in Villa Rusconi opening the season over there too.

Among all the 33 bouquets in the contest this one was the only created with peonies alone.
It was the first to be on top of the list at the beginning of the contest and always kept the first positions.
It is a lovely bouquet all made with pink peonies created by Monika Andenmatten for Australian couple Josh and Bronwen’s wedding on Lake Orta.
Picture was taken by Photo27 – Milan.

Among the trivia or the contest we can say that the simple and natural ones were more successful than the more elaborated ones.
Round shapes was preferred rather than teardrop or cascade bouquets.
Preferred colors were pink and white.

At the second position we find white hydrangeas bouquet from British couple Louise and Antonin who got marred to Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como.
Bouquet was reated by Figli dei Fiori and the photography is by Studio Morlotti – Milan.

Third prize went to roses of the bouquet of Italian couple Daniela and Mauro created by La Piccola Selva floral designers on Lake Orta.
On the contest page you can find the complete list of all votes for each bouquet.
A great thank you from Italian Lakes Wedding Team to everybody who joined our contest helping us growing and getting new and better ideas.
Next appointment for the contest is next year with Bouquet of the Year 2011.

Today we would love to tell you about a special wedding we planned on Lake Orta but most of all about bride’s special dress!
On a wonderful day of late August Anne and Alan tied the knot after two years planning. They fell in love with the place after a visit about years ago when we met.

Wonderful Anne is French from Paris and handsome Alan is from Ireland. They live in Ireland and they choose Orta for their special day because of its romanticism quaintness! In these two years Anne had a lovely baby boy and elder sister Mina grew up to be a wonderful flower girl together with other Anne’s girls.

During these months Anne studied all little details of the wedding focusing her attention side of the venue and other important issues, to her girls dresses, wedding dress, flowers and stationery.
Wonderful wedding stationery was studied and made by herself keeping in mind dreamy vintage Alice in Wonderland style.

Have a look to little sugared almonds favors box with Eat Me written on, to the menus and to the cake topper and to the names cards. Aren’t they just oneiric, vintage and natural? They perfectly match the location which is natural, romantic quaint and blooming.

But let’s have a look to Anne’s amazing wedding dress. We know that a wedding dress could be one of the most important detail for a bride. A bride could spend months finding the right one or it could be love at first sight just like for Anne was. The wedding dress perfectly matched her style. Anne chose famous Claire Pettibone as her stylist for the dress of her dreams. Continue Reading »

Today we would love to speak about a lovely couple coming from Belgium: Els and Jurgen. They decided to come over Orta to spend a wonderful one week vacation with their family and friends on the Lake. Most of all they have a sweet intimate wedding over this wonderful spot of Italy.
Such a lovely and intimate event on this romantic Lake.

Els is a wonderful happy and smiling person so she decided she wanted a happy wedding with an happy theme based on green and happy sunflowers to match it.
Just have a look to great job Monika from La Piccola Selva did for Els’ bouquet. A joyful explosion of sunflowers and cream roses. It was exactly what Els wanted.
The choice Els took for her dress was not common at all…
You can admire her pretty dress in following pictures, it is made with a beautiful light green taffeta.

The term taffeta comes from the Persian words for “twisted” and “woven,” which suggests that this fabric probably originated around this region, or that it was introduced to Europeans through Persia, a major stop along European and Asian trade routes. This fabric usually has a very tight weave, and the weave is plain. Taffeta is famous for being very stiff and crisp, generating rustling sounds when people move in it. The fabric is also very soft and smooth to the touch, and it has a famously lustrous and glimmery appearance.
This is what Els loved about that and she wanted to add a visible tulle skirt under it to make it even prettier!

Neckline was decorated with very pretty taffeta roses that somehow matched Els lovely bouquet.
Greenery in the bouquet perfectly matched the shades of the dress and sunflower add a touch of happiness to all. Continue Reading »
