Most couples chose to get married in spring, because April, May and June are typically considered the appropriate time for a traditional wedding.
But if you are planning to get married in Italy , and in particular in the lakes area, you may consider seriously the idea of getting married in winter and in particular in December.
“Why?”, you may ask. “But because it is Christmas time” I say! And your marriage can take advantage of “the most beautiful time of the year”!
Imagine: all the little villages are filled with Christmas decorations, ligths, candles, and snow capped mountains all around! Isn’t this a gorgeous setting for you photo album?
You can have Christmas holyday menu for you dinner party and what about a Panettone, the classical Italian Christmas cake instead of the usual wedding cake?
But what entices me most (and not just because I am a singer) is Christmas music! Christmas songs are known by everyone and are mostly the same all around the world. They remember us of our childhood, of beautiful moments spent with our parents and relatives, of gifts and kisses, of old friends, of happiness and love…
This is why I always suggest my special Christmas live show to couples getting married in December.
On this webpage you can listen to some samples of the Christmas songs I like most…with a little Christmas present: you can download some of my Christmas songs for FREE!
MERRY CHRISTMAS from Martha J.!

Eleonora and David got married on the 27th of September. This was a special event planned in association with Italian Lakes Wedding Team. You can have a look to DAVID AND ELEONORA’S PHOTO GALLERY realized by Diego & Estella Photographers – Photo27.com.
The Ceremony took place in the beautiful setting of Villa Rusconi Clerici in Verbania Pallanza, lake Maggiore.
I would need very few words to describe what happened at their wedding (beautiful, romantic, full of joy and feeling, with everything going as planned…). Much longer is the description of the effort and the lovely care and attention to every detail that Eleonora and David put in the planning of their special day, and to the music in particular!
Eleonora contacted me by email some months before the wedding date, in May to be exact.
She and David decided almost at once that my jazz repertoire was exactly what they wanted for the aperitif. But they were undecided for the music for the ceremony: “I don’t remember if I mentioned it” writes Eleonora in one of the many emails we exchanged, “the ceremony will be Catholic and Jewish together…”.
Therefore not only we needed to find music that Eleonora and David liked, that could accompany their ceremony, underlining the special moments, giving everybody emotions and so on (as usual!). We most of all had to find pieces that were not too closely connected to one of the two religions or traditions represented during the ceremony, songs or music that could be impartial. Last month prestigious soprano singer Karin Brides, has joined the Italian Lakes Music Team. Karin is gifted with a splendid voice and notable international experience in the musical area and furthermore she sings in numerous languages, English, German, French and Italian.
Recently i had the pleasure to meet Karin Brides for a chat about her activity as soprano singer at weddings. Karin is extremely gentle and cordial and deeply loves her work.
You immediately will notice this while reading this interview!
- Hi Karin, welcome to Italian Lakes Wedding Blog. What is it about your wedding music business that you are most proud of?
Every wedding I worked at I left bride, groom and the guests deeply touched and thankful. Their reactions made me realize that the music and the singing contributed in a major way to keep the energy high, to create a peak time for them.
- How do you work with clients to choose musical selections for weddings?
I figure out what kind of music taste they have and see if they have already songs or arias in mind.
When I found out about the style of wedding they choose, if more private, casual or grande and official, whether a religious or civil ceremony. Then I look for songs that fit their style and location and together we create the program.
I figure out the couple’s expectations and then work out the details or/and make some other proposals to accomplish the sound-scenery. Continue Reading »
