For this reason they decided to have a little pre wedding photography service, just the two of them to live and explore the little romantic and charming corners of Orta village!
They simply took a walk with their friend Fwad Afzal Photographer in Orta village and got magic pictures that they will never forget!

Niamh and Stephen got married the day after, our last wedding of 2011 summer season.
Niamh was simply beautiful in her romantic dress and have a look to the four bridesmaids too in ivory beige long dresses!
The dresses matched perfectly the color of the flowers Niamh chose for them, ivory cream roses and gerberas created by La Piccola Selva with the other floral arrangements of the day.

Civil Ceremony was held in Villa Bossi, Orta town hall and Niamh and Stepehen were so lucky to have a wonderful weather and many guests present to this special day, about 100 guests!

After a little walk in the little roads of Orta with some drinks for guests and some more fun pictures in the village the whole group took the boats to take a lovely trip on the Lake and then reached the restaurant on St. Julius Island.

In our older posts we showed smaller parties to this rustic restaurant by the shores but the wide terrace can fit up to 100-120 guests and this is what happened for Niamh and Stepen’s wedding!

A great dinner and party to follow with a huge chocolate cake too!

Our couple took also the chance to have a lovely walk on the Island to have some other great shots in this quiet and special place: St. Julius Island.

We arranged the civil wedding at the historique townhall called Villa Bossi. The civil wedding takes place outside in the beautiful garden. With the sun shining so nicely, a blue sky, we all waited for the arrival of the beautiful bride Louise. She came with her father in a rowing boat and was welcomed by her 2 bridesmaids before she walked down the natural path which suited as an aisle like in a church.
Happily both said yes in the right moment, our interpreter Irmi was much more in tears then bride and groom!

Look at her beautiful bouquet that was prepared by our preferred florist La Piccola Selva. Same colors and shape for the bridesmaids and lots of white and pink rose petals for the newly weds.

After the ceremony we had 2 boats fetching us and bring us over to the island San Giulio. On the terrace of the small restaurant San Giulio we had a toast with Prosecco and typical Italian fingerfood.

Only after a relaxing stay there we proceeded on with the boat along the coastline with wonderful views on lots of historique villas of noble people. Just to be in time for an welcome drink at the Ca dal Rat, a charming trattoria with good local food.

Here again we repeated the color code of white and pink for flowers and the table decoration. A cage pinned to a tree indicated the seating plan. Everybody enjoyed the good food and the attentive service. And our dj had the good music to create a very festive atmosphere.

How bad that at midnight we had to go back on the boats and return to Orta village. But there awaiting another highlight from our part, we let flew the skylanterns. These are coming from Japan and will transport all best wishes for Louise and Robert into the nightly sky – so they will come true.

Britta Hartmann-De Marchi is german and therefore the specialist for German, Austrian and Swiss couples coming to the lake Region for getting married.

She herself got married 10 years ago and choose an Italian husband. Enjoying to live here in Bella Italia and coming from 14-years-experience in international advertising and marketing, she liked to change her job into becoming organizer of weddings for german-(and english-) speaking people coming to Italy for their marriage.

Coming from Germany and knowing what to expect in Italy, she is the perfect organizer between bride and groom and the Italian service partners. Correctness, flexibility and a easy hand to plan all details around a wedding make her work very appreciated.

The most emotional part is, when I become almost the best friend of the bride during all the planning time you share with each other. So we both do enjoy the wedding day in its best form and this is important for my work.

We can say that Hannah and James were surely the youngest couple we planned the wedding for in 2010 and we really want to wish them all the best for their life together!

Hannah and James decided for Orta without seeing it before. They thought once arrived here the lovely medieval village could be a sweet surprise for their guests and for them too.
And it was! The warm temperature of September welcomed the small group. Bride and groom decided for an intimate wedding on the shores of the lake.

Hannah’s tastes were on purple, lilac and white and she opted for a very elegant bouquet matching bridesmaid dress.
She decided to get ready in the amazing rooms of the Moorish Villa, one of the most luxurious venues in Orta San Giulio.

Hairdresser reached her here and she had all the time to get ready before reaching Orta main square to get on a rowing boat to reach James waiting for her to the town hall.

This time it was the bridesmaid to walk on the aisle with the bride. Have a look to the colors on the warm sun of September aren’t the two girls just stunning?

After a very intimate and emotional ceremony in the town hall of Orta – Villa Bossi – bride and groom hosted a lovely boat tour on the lake to finally reach their reception venue: pretty restaurant on St. Julius Island.

Hannah really wanted a royal table for all the guests along the terrace so everybody could enjoy the magic view on the lake.
Decorations for the tables were all in purple, lilac and white matching also nice names cards and stationary.

After the delicious dinner Hannah and James cut their wedding cake… white and lilac.
The night was cheered up by Ezio Lucchini guitarist who played Hannah and James’ first dance and all the following.
On the background the little lights of floating lanterns on the lake.

The youngest couple of 2010 and for sure one of the sweetest and the most romantic event on Lake Orta.

For this last week end we start from Niamh and Stephan, Irish bride and French groom who got married in the magic gardens of Villa Bossi.
Wonderful weather and lovely three bridesmaids.

Three other bridesmaids were present to Francesca and Jose’s wedding. Italian bride and Spanish groom.
The ceremony was held in the wonderful church of Assunta in the village of Orta with a lovely reception to Villa Ortea.

Last but not least Isabella and Mario both Italian who choose Villa Bossi for their civil ceremony and a lovely lunch to Restaurant on St Julius Island.
In the picture above you can see the lovely Isabella’s bracelet bouquet that Monika from La Piccola Selva created for her.

For Lake Orta and all of us working for weddings over this wonderful place September was a very busy period!
We apologize with our readers if we “forgot” somehow some of the wonderful events we had in the magic end of this season.

We want to remember here Louise and Robert, Piera and Davis, Dora and Andrea, Julia and James, Anna and Joachim, Holly e James, Laura and Craig, Lucy and Mike, Liz and Paul, Sonya and Gareth, Sofia and Henrik, Elizabeth and Reidar and Lorna and Alex.

Unfortunately we did not have enough time to speak about all of them but do not worry we will come back to speak about many of these events, it is a promise!

We had several weddings this 2011 season here but we would love to mention two in particular because they stayed in our hearts.
I picked two events because they are two wonderful examples of how you can plan a wonderful day in Orta with reception to L’Ustaria.

First couple is Edel and Kieran.
They are two lovely guys coming from Ireland who wanted a romantic religious ceremony in the church of Sacro Monte of Orta.
Guests were all staying in Orta and to reach the church they opted for the lovely touristy train leaving from Orta main square!

They had a great fun a great ride overlooking the lake and its island!
Bride arrived with a lovely car afterwards.
The ceremony was very touching inside the wonderful church of Sacro Monte and the pictures after the ceremony just stunning with a breathtaking panorama.

Edel and Kieran wanted a little toast after the ceremony and then a trip back to the village to take the boat and reach L’Ustaria Ca dal Rat!
The guests arrived first and the bride and groom after to do their official entrance.

Dinner was delicious and view stunning with a magic sunset by the lake, they wanted a laid back atmosphere and they surely got it.

The second couple opted for a civil ceremony instead!
Gillian and Steve decided for an outdoor ceremony at Villa Bossi on a wonderful afternoon of Summer!

The bride arrived by boat and three purple dressed bridesmaids were waiting for her to walk along the aisle!
After the ceremony some very funny pictures….we have to say that Steve and his groomsmen were a real fun!

Gillian and Steve decided to go to lovely St. Julius Island for wonderful pictures while their guests were waiting for them to L’Ustaria Ca del Rat.

Gillian is surely a romantic!
She opted for a purple lilac themed wedding and lovely heart-shaped decorations all over the venue to personalize it.

A great dinner overlooking the sunset and lot of fun and dances afterwards!

Leigh was surely one of the most precise bride I had this year as far as decoration and flowers are concerned. She wanted to add a touch of charm to a venue that is very pretty by itself: the restaurant on St. Julius Island!

But let’s start from the beginning.
Leigh and Alex a lovely British couple, fell in love with Lake Orta last year in occasion of their visit to find the right venue for their wedding. The started with Lake Maggiore but as soon as they reached Lake Orta thought it was simply perfect.
Leigh loved the little restaurant on St. Julius Island for its intimacy and cosiness so the choice was easy!

They opted for a civil ceremony to Villa Bossi.
Bride arrived with the rowing boat but also the bridesmaids did! Isn’t it a great idea?

A lovely boat tour with their guests to follow and amazing pictures around the little Island to complete the ceremony!
Andrea and Francesco from Independent Pictures were their official photographers and they did a very good job indeed.

Leigh wanted a full laces dress that was really amazing and for sure very Italian style. Alex was also very handsome in his gray suit!

When we started talking about flowers the choice started with peonies but not being seasonal Leigh opted for something even more elegant: Orchids!
Paola and Monika from La Piccola Selva did a very good job indeed!
They used two kind of orchids: Phalaenopsis for the bouquet of the bride and Dendrobium for the decorations to the restaurant and it was a prefect match!

In these pictures you can see the wonderful effect we achieved to St.Julius Restaurant.
Flowers decorations were amazing! Paola and Monika created a long garland running all along the U shaped table.
The garland was made of dendrobium orchids, cream roses and lot of greenery, it wrapped the silver 5-armed-candelabras and some others scattered on the table creating a romantic and charming effect!
All guests were amazed!

The final touch were some lovely rounded lanterns hanged on the draped celing of the terrace, they seemed little moons placed there for Leigh and Alex!
There was some more….the terrace was en lit by some special amber light projector that enhanced the effects of the candles all over the venue.

Lot of dances and fun closed a wonderful day on Lake Orta that I’m sure Leigh and Alex and their guests will remember forever, like us!

From the very first email I appreciate how sweet and kind Donna was.
Mark and her had in mind a wonderful idea…. getting married outside on a rock overlooking a wonderful undiscovered spot of Italy.
Suggestion that came to my mind immediately was: Madonna del Sasso view!

So we decided to arrange all around this.
Donna and Mark arrived in Italy reaching Venice as first destination.
Then they traveled across Lake District, Lake Garda, Lake Como and they finally reached lovely Lake Orta the location they chose for their wedding.

On the day of the wedding the a warm sun of May blessed the day and all was ready for the intimate ceremony on Madonna del Sasso rock.

Mark left the hotel before Donna to reach the breathtaking rock of Madonna del Sasso while Donna was still getting ready and have some pictures with her wonderful bouquet created by Monika and Paola from La Piccola Selva.
Wonderful roses, peonies and a touch of blue… scented lavender!

Donna was one of the sweetest bride I ever had but she is a very sporty and firm woman! She is a sport racing driver!
She loves cars and bikes and she wanted a wonderful Italian car to take her to her wedding ceremony. Something vintage… Italian …a wonderful 50s Lancia Appia.

After a pleasant drive through the nature Donna reached Madonna del Sasso Rock. She was wordless….the view was stunning and Mark was waiting for her in the peace of this enchanting place.

Our professional celebrant Giuseppe was waiting for her with Mark just on the edge of the rock to perform a moving and intense ceremony overlooking a magnificent view.
This was exactly what Donna and Mark dreamt for their wedding: a wedding in the nature overlooking a unique and natural show.

After the moving and very intimate ceremony Donna and Mark took some pictures in the little garden in front of the Church of Madonna del Sasso and inside the church. The parish priest came also to congratulate and this was one of the sweetest moment of the day… he offered some sugared almonds to the couple just to wish good luck!

After the ceremony Donna and Mark came back to Orta village for some pictures and some more to St Julius Island.
Being in love with nature they decided to reach it with a rowing boat…..so romantic!

A little walk in the tiny roads of the Island and then back to Orta for a magic dinner to the restaurant of Hotel San Rocco.

Donna and Mark spent some more days in Orta and drove back to Milan to come back to US….they will definitely come back in Italy soon to enjoy some more of our wonderful country!

Pretty and sweet Leigh wanted for her wedding a traditional setting with a special touch of elegance!
This is the reason because she opted for white elegant flowers for her and bridesmaids’ bouquets: amazing Phalaenopsis Orchids!

Civil ceremony was held to the Town Hall with a scenic sky ad background!

Reception dinner was held to the pretty restaurant on St.Julius Island; it was arranged with elegant candelabras and a train of flowers all over the table …just a dream!

Viviana and Alessandro’s color scheme matched elegant bride’s wedding dress.
It was in all the shades of lilac, pink and white.
A dream!

Floral arrangements for Villa Bossi took inspiration from these shades just like Viviana’s bouquet and centerpieces for the wedding reception.
It was arranged to the evocative terrace of the Restaurant on St. Julius Island.

Nicole is Australian and Euan is from Scotland. It is just for Euan’s home country that the couple decided for a blue and white schemed wedding.

Blue and white recalls the legendary St. Andrew’s Cross national flag of Scotland. This is one of the most ancient flags in the world dated back to 800 a.c. Flag is made of a diagonal cross representing St. Andrew Martyrdom’s cross on a blue background. St. Andrew is the patron saint of all Scotland. Blue and White are in all national sports wears of Scotland starting from national soccer team.

In Nicole and Euan’s wedding blue and white were just everywhere: in floral arrangements, on flower girl’s dresses and in Nicole’s bridal bouquet. This was a special cascade bouquet that Monika – La Piccola Selva Floral designer – created with white roses and blue gentianas.

The event was coordinated and planned by our wedding planner Valentina Lombardi who works on Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore. Valentina will tell us more about this event.

A very special interesting and sweet couple!
Euan is Scottish and beautiful Nicole is Austalian they both live and work in Dubai. For their special day they opted for Italy because they simply love the food the rustic and quaint atmosphere and also because Euan worked here for about one year.
Nicole also wanted a wedding by the waters of the sea or the lake. Putting all these elements together we thought that Orta could be perfect, so intimate, medieval, romantic and just on the lake shores!

Nicole for her wedding wanted something classical and chic with a timeless elegance theme just like Grace Kelly times. Orta architecture touched their hearts with its facades, narrow roads, pastel colors of houses and little details like the iron gate of the town hall and coat of arms.

When Nicole and Euan looked at Black and White Orta article with Alfonso Longobardi’s photos the finally decided that Orta was more than perfect and Alfonso was going to be the one taking care about their wedding pictures!

As usual civil ceremony was held in the garden of Villa Bossi. Groom and groomsmen wore their traditional kilt, white and blue were everywhere for a day Lake Orta become a little strip of Scottish Highlands!

Have a look to wonderful white little dress of the flowergirls with a blue belt and ribbon on their waist.

After the ceremony bride and groom had a lovely boat tour with a motorboat reaching St. Julius Island. Alfonso Longobardi took a lot of portraits. Great shots from the very famous photographer coming from Naples.

The reception has been set in the garden of Villa Crespi with famous Lake Orta Moorish Villa on the background. Frescoes and decorations and the high minaret are the perfect setting for an elegant reception like Nicole really wanted.
Villa Crespi is also well known for its 2 Michelin Stars restaurant a dinner you cannot forget!
