Fiona and Marco are a wonderful couple who chose our wonderful Lake Maggiore to tie the knot!
Marco is Italian, his family lives close to Milan but he lives in UK since many years. It just there where he met beautiful Fiona!
She is Scottish and surely a beautiful girl!
Marrying an Italian guy she also speak a little of Italian and she wanted to incorporate some of Italian traditions in her wedding matching them perfectly with Scottish ones!

Marco and Fiona opted for a religious ceremony to the amazing church of Sacro Monte of Ghiffa.
All guests stayed in Pallanza and arrived here with a short transfer we planned for them. Fiona arrival was more than beautiful! She arrived on wonderful Bentley owned by her father who is a car lover since ever!

She was just stunning in her elegant dress.
It was all made with laces with some gray drawings that added a touch of charm!
It matched somehow bridesmaids dresses.
Fiona didn’t opt for classical bridesmaids dresses but she piked lovely short dresses with a vintage roses pattern.
The four pretty bridesmaids were very elegant!

Together with Fiona we studied the way to match all floral decoration and stationary around this pattern.
La Piccola Selva Team made up by Monika and Paola did a wonderful job with Fiona and bridesmaids’ bouquets and with small but elegant centerpieces to Villa Rusconi.

Stationary was customized and created on Fiona’s wishes reproducing exactly the pattern on bridesmaids dresses on order of services, names cards, table names and table chart.

After the ceremony the group reached Villa Rusconi for a wonderful cocktail in the wide lawn of the villa and a dinner to follow under the pavilion.

One of the most touching part of the day was when Marco and Fiona did their entrance in the pavilion for the dinner.
They were followed by a bagpiper as Scottish tradition wants.
He was not a simple bagpiper! He was Fiona’s father who is a professional player!
A great moment for everyone!

Fiona and Marco really wanted a special illumination for the night and for this reason a light designer was able to re create with artificial lights a romantic atmosphere similar to the one of candle lights

Dances and party followed the gourmand dinner with a lot of fun for both Scottish, English and Italian guests!

We are not often able to tell you about a wedding with all set of beautiful pictures few days after the event. We usually post a Just Married post following a real post telling about the full event.

This time we wanted to do something different, thanks to the great job of Enrico Mocci by ArteFotoArona that in only few days was able to give us the entire photo set.

In this post we selected for you the most beautiful shots.
Candid images full of emotions as always in Enrico Mocci works (like famous Daniel and Tessa Miss Holland for Miss Universe reportage).

Laura and Lionel chose Lake Maggiore for their wedding in Italy. They opted for lake shores in Pallanza.
The catholic ceremony was held in Church of San Leonardo and the reception to follow in elegant Grand Hotel Majestic.

Laura and Lionel come from Luxembourg, they are in love, sweet and very friendly. It was a pleasure working with them!

As floral designer, I’ve been contacted by Lionel more than one year ago.
Since the very beginning bride and groom had very clear ideas on their wedding.
They opted for white as main color for floral decorations and wonderful Avalanche Roses acting as main characters!

Laura and Lionel’s Big Day was on 20th of August.
With the bride and groom there were three sweet flower girls….have a look at them…aren’t they lovely?
Their little bouquets matched perfectly bride’s one with but with some little leaves of Cineraria Marittima in light gray to match their dresses too.

In San Leonardo church we opted for four big composition at the entrance and on the sides of the altar.
To enhance the scenic effect there were some other decorations on the pews all along the aisle, from the church entrance to the bride and groom’s chairs.
All with white roses.

Outside the church there was a very chic Bentley car of 1968 (rented by Laura Gioielli Autodepoca). It was waiting for bride and groom to drive them to Grand Hotel Majestic, Lionel and Laura’s reception venue.

Wonderful gardens of Grand Hotel Majestic just on the shores were the perfece frame for Enrico Mocci’s shots. You can see in them the atmosphere and emotions of this wonderful day for Laura and Lionel.

After the aperitif in the garden the dinner was held in Toscanini Room.
This is one of the most precious room for a reception on Lake Maggiore with antique furniture, rich curtains and crystal chandeliers.

The choice was great considering the very hot day – we had about 38 degrees Celsius.
Toscanini room had a air conditioning system which helped to refresh the ambient without tents or fans.
This is something to consider too!

As far as the floral centerpieces are concerned we decided to go for round shaped compositions on a base of glass cones.
This choice was used also in occasion of Jennifer and Oliver wedding to Grand Hotel Majestic too.
This time the touch of color to accompany white roses were little dark red daisies matching the furniture in Toscanini Room.

The final result was very classy as it was all Laura and Lionel’s wedding.
As floral designer it was a pleasure for me working with this sweet couple!

This is Hotel Camin Colmegna, located about 2 km north of Luino, on the Lombard shore of Lake Maggiore (province of Varese). A unique place for your wedding reception: not only because of its natural and architectural beauties, but especially because of the fantastic terrace on the lake, which seats up to 150 people, and the charming Veranda, also overlooking the lake, which seats up to 140 people.

Completing the offer of this small charming hotel on Lake Maggiore is the availability of 25 three-star rooms, two large car parks, a playground for children and the jetty for docking boats: as a matter of fact, the hotel can be reached via lake from the main tourist localities on Lake Maggiore, like Verbania, Laveno and Stresa, as well as from Switzerland, just a few kilometres away.

The villa was built in the late eighteenth century as a hunting estate: the first owner, Leopoldo Casnedi, also created a splendid park, enriching it with precious and rare plants that he brought back from his numerous trips around the world.

I have run the Camin di Colmegna Restaurant for over two decades: though remaining faithful to a “typical regional” cuisine and to the singular simplicity of the various courses, I am always on the lookout for special dishes for important receptions.

More than sixteen years after the first meal was cooked and the first glass of wine poured, the care put into the preparation of healthy and wholesome food and into the selection and the conservation of the best Italian wines remains unchanged.

Naturally, we use only the finest quality of fresh products, but of course as they say “taste is subjective” and it is on this point we will work together with you. The expertise we have acquired allow us to put forward a series of seasonal menus from which you can choose your favourite courses or those which are more suitable for your party, availing yourselves of expert advice for the combination of the dishes or the matching of the wines.


If you would like to start your Banquet with something special, you could astound your guests by starting off with an aperitif in the impressive  “Prato dolce Colmegna”, a lawn next to the Tower built on the rocks right on the lake; you could also consider going their via the lake with our motorboat.

We ask that you inform us of the final number of guests 15 days before the event with a 30% deposit on the total price and reconfirm in writing, three days before the event.

This number will be used for the final bill.
Also for children this place becomes a Paradise: we offer them our playing area, high chairs, the baby changing unit and special children’s menus to make lunch or dinner a fun and unforgettable experience.

For guests who have travelled a long distance we have wonderful rooms with a lake view.

Let’s get back to Europe. Mara and Harald: they came from Austra and they chose San Vittore church on Pescatori Island for their religious wedding followed by a lovely reception in one of the terraced restaurants on the Island.

First comes love… then comes planning!

Lina is a young girl of Chinese origin but 100% Italian. Born and raised in Verbania, she has travelled extensively including Japan, China and The United States before choosing to live with Borja in Spain. What struck me most about Lina was her great enthusiasm and profound affection for her home town and the surrounding area of Lago Maggiore. This played a huge part in her decision to select Verbania as the destination of her wedding day, also because it was an opportuntity to share her love of the area with guests, in order that they too could experience the pleasure of discovering the extraordinary beauty of this area.
Her emotional attachment transformed Lina into a kind of honourary Ambassador for Lake Maggiore, at least for a day!

Lina and Borja’s wedding was indeed a fantastic blend of different cultures and traditions: more than 200 guests coming especially from all over the world attended, notably those from Spain, America, Japan, Italy and China (some of whom are also residents of Italy).

We felt extremely fortunate about how things turned out and had decided that it would be wonderful to marry in my home town, especially because we will spend most of our time in Madrid.
For me Verbania is the place in which I was born as well as a beautiful location. I feel so proud to have been able to share this wonderful place with others who have never visited and perhaps didn’t even know about its existence. All of our friends from elsewhere were very impressed by what they saw and by all the close attention to detail.

Great attention to detail was definitely a main feature of Lina and Borja’s wedding. Nothing was left to chance… from the wedding decorations for the ceremony and dinner, the video set up complete with steady cam and crane, to the flower arrangements, music and above all… the bride’s especially designed wedding dress and groom’s unique apparel.

My wedding dress was designed by Rosario Diaz, a stylist from Madrid. Rosario Diaz is an expert in designing and creating individual wedding dresses. We chose Rosario because he exclusively designed a wedding dress for Borja’s sister.
The hunt for my own dress started with other ateliers but none of them convinced me completely. Rosario showed us various kinds of fabric that had just arrived and I completely fell in love with material with a floral motif and ‘shredded’ effect made by laser that became the base of the gown.
The rest of the detail was added a step at a time and after several stages of experiment. The finishing touches were the ‘pettinino’ and fan effect, reminiscent of the Spanish tradition. The sleeves were decorated with tiny pearls, stones and ‘plisse tulle’.
The idea was to add a touch of colour to the sleeves and bearing in mind that the belt was grey we decided that this was the best option.

An unusual and original feature of Borja’s West was a waist coat with a floral design:

Borja’s west was tailored using a curtain fabric that we loved. We wanted something special for him, considering that men don’t have a vast choice regarding wedding suits. We discovered a very skilful tailor with experience in working with rich cotton and who was able to create a lovely west with such a dense fabric.

The process of planning the wedding began a year in advance and was closely followed by Valentina Lombardi, who is a specialist in arranging weddings in Lake Maggiore.

The very first contact with Lina was by email via our web site. Lina had very clear ideas and wanted to arrange her wedding at Villa Rusconi Clerici. We decided to meet in Verbania to start the full planning procedure.

At that time I had also had the pleasure of meeting Lina and Borja’s families and practicing a little Spanish too! After the visit to the villa all the main features and details were mainly organized via email together with a couple of further face to face meetings.

Lina was such a sweet bride and paid close attention to each detail. She had in mind a romantic wedding based on the shades of pastel pink and green to match the fairy tale landscape of Lake Maggiore. And to our immense mutual satisfaction, together we did it!

The Floral arrangements were taken care of by Monika and Paola, floral designers of La Piccola Selva.

After a couple of emails I met Lina personally a few months before her wedding day. She explained how she imagined her wedding and the flowers. I perfectly understood Lina’s ideas. As floral designer I loved working with her and I was really proud of the work we achieved for Lina and Borja’s wedding.

For the ceremony we embellished the villa gazebo with pink organza, lavender, white lysianthus and pink gypsophila.
The idea was to make the gazebo pretty end elegant, with a flowing decoration of flowers that were in harmony with the enviroment.

Lina’s bouquet was really special! Monika created it with Cymbidium orchids, Alchemilla, white Lysianthus and Dolce Vita roses. Little pearls kept together by a thin silver wire adorned the bouquet giving to it a very elegant final touch.
Monika created a real masterpiece to match Lina’s wedding dress and Borja’s floral patterned west.

Their Symbolic blessing by the shores of Lake Maggiore was conducted by Diane and Giuseppe in an almost surreal and magical manner thanks to some unusual weather conditions. A storm threatened to break out over the Lake but thankfully changed course.
In fact the dark clouds pierced with rays of brilliant sunshine together with a light breeze on the lake contributed to a unique and unforgettable atmosphere.

But let’s read what Diane has to say about it:

One of the most satisfying aspects of our role as Celebrants is the marrying (literally!) of cultures, nationalities, traditions and of course languages. Lina and Borja’s cermony afforded us the opportunity to construct a script reflecting their many diverse cultural influences. We were immediately struck by the intensity of their relationship and their youthful energy.
The wedding party was an eclectic mix, including over two hundred guests who had travelled to partake in a multi cultural blessing, celebrated mainly in Italian but also including sentiments and readings expressed in English, Spanish, Chinese and French!

The bride and groom were evidently moved by the powerfully emotional speeches performed by friends from all over the world. It was inspiring to witness two people so young and incredibly in love, clearly relishing every word and cherishing such a unique moment in their lives.

Following the ceremony the aperitif was served on the extensive lawns of Villa Rusconi while classical portraits of family members and friends were taken. The Photography service was expertly conducted by Fabio for Ajn – Luca Rajna Progetti Fotografici. It was a wonderful service with great post production.

Lina and Borja’s wedding was indeed a great event! It was elegant but the bride and groom were also relaxed and friendly with everyone.
There were many different situations and cultures to be photographed, (not to mention the beauty of Lake Maggiore!).
The fabulous climate and perfect organization made the event a wonderful party. Taking pictures for me was an easy and pleasurable task and it was a great professional opportunity!

The wedding video was realized by the very skillful Riccardo Lavezzo, a young but extremely imaginative and professional videographer from the Piemonte region.

Speaking as cameraman for Lina and Borja’s wedding I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for appreciating our style and for trusting in our ability. We felt free to capture and use images as we perceived them on the day. Having been allowed a free hand on the shooting meant that we were able to work with minimum stress and utilise technology and work creativity with energy and enthusiasm.

Villa Rusconi and Lake Maggiore offered a very natural landscape and scenography. Realizing a memory for the bride and groom offered me the possibility to experience and work more efficiently, paying greater attention without the risk of missing those important moments. Every emotion for me was amplified and more vivid.

It was wonderful to see how love can overcome distance, cultural difference and how destiny can change the lives of two people such as Lina and Borja… and all due to a chance meeting, which sometimes happens for the benefit of all those involved!

The whole event, from the ceremony to the party was accompanied by Desafinado Music Planner and by the fantastic voice of singer Camilla Pagani.

Lina and Borja’s wedding was amazing! Great people and a great location, I do love Villa Rusconi!

Unfortunately It was a cloudy day and as soon as I arrived I was terribly worried about the weather, can you just imagine a rainy day with our instruments and all the electric stuff we had?!?!? We finally made it! The ceremony was marvellous with the 3 of us only: guitar, saxophone and voice, We welcomed them with “Gabriel’s Oboe” a Morricone masterpiece. Then we had a great time during the aperitif, the male voice, doublebass and drum players joined us and we played some smooth an elegant jazz music and bossanova.
Lina and Borja appreciated our Sextet very much indeed! Our DJ arrived after they’d had their wonderful wedding cake and they all went on dancing all night long and really had great fun.

I’m so happy I had the chance to meet Lina and Borja and to perform at their wedding.
Camilla – Desafinado Music

At sunset the dinner was served in the wonderful pavillion of Villa Rusconi… a dinner that soon become a great party!

For the evening we decided together with Lina and Borja to create an unforgetable atmosphere! The villa was completely illuminated by a designer who created a unique setting for the evening. Lina and Borja selected a gourmet Menu and fine Wines. But the fun part was the party itself! In spite of being a very big party with more than 200 people the couple experienced an intimate atmosphere filled with a special kind of love.

During the dinner the guests were deeply captivated by the singing of Cantico del Camarero – a typical Spanish song which was amusing and added to the sense of levity. After dinner Lina and Borja expressed a desire not only to dance in the villa’s cellar but also to continue the festivities at a nearby disco in order to continue the party!

The most beautiful part of the day? The weather! We couldn’t have asked for anything more! Joking apart…
I love recalling our friends speeches during the ceremony and dinner. Everybody was so happy, having fun and chatting to one other! They were singing Camarero from one table to the other. It seemed to me as if we were all eating together at one large table! We were incredibly lucky with everything: the flowers, dress, weather (not too hot or cold) and everything!
I could not have really asked for more!

When I first met Lisa and Darren I was touched by their enthusiasm. They such a nice and solar couple. When I showed them Villa Rusconi Lisa’s eyes sparkled and I knew that that was the right the right place for them!
Then almost a year wonderful year of planning followed. And I have to admit we developed a very special relationship that ended to consider each other like good and old friends!

We wanted our wedding to be relaxed but an experience our guests would never forget and I think we achieved this 110 percent!  Our friends are still raving about it now!
The setting of course is stunning and couldn’t fail to impress.

Lisa decided to getting ready with her friends to closer Grand Hotel Majestic.

The hotel is very close to the villa and she had the possibility to have some first pictures in the wonderful garden of the hotel itself and then taking a boat for its pier to reach the wedding venue by boat with her friends and her father.

Wedding ceremony was arranged in the garden of the villa and blessed with a great sunny day.

Diane Wheeler was conducting the ceremony for them. Diane says about the couple:

Lisa and Darren are wonderful people and Lisa wins my vote as the most relaxed bride of the year!
She was trusting and flexible in her approach towards the content of the ceremony and entirely open to suggestions.
The fact that both were willing to trust me as their Celebrant meant that they were free to simply enjoy the moment.

During the ceremony they were clearly moved and appeared to be absorbing every single word… I made sure that Lisa’s affection for ‘Clair de Lune’ was reflected in the ceremony and the quartet did an excellent job by intuitively playing this piece during key moments of emotional intensity. Their guests  were also a great asset because they were enthusiastic participants. The vibe was romantic and fun… it was definitely one of those ceremonies that will remain in my memory for being complete in every sense.

Diane was surely more than happy to perform a lovely and romantic ceremony for such a great couple.

I adore performing ceremonies in this perfect spot by the lake and Lisa and Darren’s ceremony was one of the highlights of this year for me personally. I am so happy to have had the opportunity to return yet again to be a part of another wonderful experience!

Theme color Lisa chose was white and pink and with a little touch of red on the wedding stationery.
Monika and Paola from La Piccola Selva created a lovely decoration made with perfect pink roses and white hydrangeas.

Fuchsia Aqua roses and white hydrangeas were the main character of Lisa and Darren’s wedding. Monika and I created such a pretty and romantic decoration for them.
From the very first contact via email Lisa had very clear ideas, in a short time we defined all the decorations for the wedding including the bridal bouquet.
It was a wonderful compact and rounded shaped bouquet made with Aqua roses and white hydrangeas with a little touch of elegance: mini white callas.

After the ceremony there was a rich aperitif to follow served in the garden of the villa but there was another surprise to come!

Lisa wanted from the very beginning a boat trip for all the group following the aperitif. So we rented a big boat to take them all for a wonderful trip across Borromeo Islands and Lake Maggiore coasts.
The boat is surely a perfect place to have a nice aperitif.
It has a lounge area inside and outside to make the trip a unique experience!
Some waiters served Prosecco and canapes and they also had some music on a great idea for sure!

My favourite part was the boat trip on the lake, I think this was a real ‘wow factor’ and really showed off the islands and surroundings. We didn’t want to just give a ‘free bar’ we wanted our guests to experience the beauty of the Italian Lakes.

At the end of the tour and after few pictures beautifully taken by Photo27 the group had a great dinner in the pavillion of the villa.

The catering and service was outstanding, our speeches ran over a little, ok a lot(!), and I was concerned the next course might be ruined, but they managed to bring out hot and high quality food as soon as the speeches were finished.

After that as we said in Italy “night is young”!
Lisa Darren and the all the group had a great fun in the cellar of the villa with open bar, a rich Italian friandies buffet and lot of dances!

We want to thank the DJ, he did a top job in getting everyone dancing, the photos are hilarious!

The party was a great fun for all even for the dj, photographers, catering company and planners!

I usually leave the group having fun after the wedding cake cut and reception but they were such a great group that they completely involved the dj, Photo27 Team and ourselves in the party!

Well this was for sure one of the greates party we ever had to Villa Rusconi. We cannot add more than Lisa words and also Lisa and Darren’s guests comments.

I just felt special, a celebrity for a day. 
A few of our guests said they felt they were at a ‘Hello’ magazine wedding, which was a huge compliment to everyone who contributed to the day.
 
However, none of this could have happened without you to guide us every step of the way and to be there every minute on the day to ensure everything ran smoothly.  We felt you were part of the day, I’m glad our friends made you so welcome.

Für und mit den jeweiligen Hochzeitspaaren wollen wir nun die Seen und ihre verschiedene Reize entdecken und die Besonderheiten aufzeigen.

Warum sind gerade die italienischen Seen so beliebt für Hochzeiten?
Ganz generell ist zu sagen, dass man an den Seen den Wunsch nach Wasser gleichzeitig erfüllen kann, wie das Wandern in alpinen Bergen, Schatten spendenden Wäldern und immer weilt der Blick hinunter in das kühle Nass. Überall liegen kleine Ortschaften, in denen noch der typische italienische Lebensstil anzutreffen ist. Regionale lombardische und piemontesische Küche runden die besonders herzliche Atmosphäre ab.

Der Lago Maggiore ist sicher sehr berühmt und war schon sehr frühzeitig Anziehpunkt für adlige Familien aus Nord-Europa. So sind aus dieser Zeit noch viele der Prunkvillen erhalten geblieben, meist noch heute im Privatbesitz, zum Beispiel in Stresa und Verbania. Sie bieten sich an, um traumhafte Hochzeiten dort zu feiern. Der perfekte Hochzeitstag kann gerne für alle Gäste mit einer Bootsfahrt vom Hotel zur Kirche oder zum Standesamt beginnen, zum Standesamt in Cannobio kann man direkt vorfahren. Dann ein Sektumtrunk nach der Trauung und geruhsam geht es per Schiff zurück. Die meisten Villen verfügen über private Landestege.

Der Ortasee ist gleich in der Nachbarschaft, ist viel kleiner und damit kuscheliger. Der Ort Orta selbst ist autofrei und so laden Cafès und kleine Boutiquen zum Verweilen ein. Ganz süss steht das historische Standesamt direkt am Wasser, die Braut kann also standesgemäss per Boot vorgefahren werden.
Nicht vergessen ist die entzückende Insel San Guilio, laut einer Legende ein Haufen Sand, den der Mönch Sankt Julius aus seinem Schuh geschüttet hat, als er den See überquerte. Ein perfekter Rahmen für eine wirklich gelungene Hochzeit.

Ein wenig weiter westlich findet man dann den Comersee. Dieser ist zur Zeit wirklich im Trend, nicht nur George Clooney hat hier ihr italienisches Zuhause in Laglio gefunden. Kleine Ortschaften wie Menaggio, Varenna, Argegno, sowie versteckte Kloster in den Bergen, hohe Gipfel, die manchmal sogar im Sommer leicht schneebedeckt sind und dann dazu das kristallblaue Wasser; das sind schon allein grosse Anreize für das Auge und den Naturgenuss. Besonders in Bellagio und Cadenabbia und Cernobbio gibt es private Patriziervillen in Fülle für die Hochzeitsfeier. Einige sind in Besitz der jeweiligen Gemeinde und stehen damit für romantische Trauungen zur Verfügung.
