We have to remember that Villa del Balbianello was the movie set of famous Star Wars Episode II – Attack of the Clones.
Star Wars lovers surely know that this villa was named like Lake Retreat in the movie and it is where Padme and Anikin Skywalker hid while Obi One Kenobi traked down those responsible for attempting to Amidala’s life. But most of al,l for our story, it is where secret marriage of Anakin Skywalker and Amidala took place.

Hilde and Jean Erik chose for their staying luxurious Grand Hotel Tremezzo where both of them got and ready for the wedding while Morlotti photographer was there to take wonderful pictures of the event.
Beautiful bride opted for an unusual and fancy dress short on the front and very long on the back: she really looked like a princess!
We cannot forget to mention our groom Jean Erik who was also very elegant is his morning suit.
However the real surprise was the bridal party! They thought about involving three Star Wars movie characters as you can see in the pictures taken by Morlotti Studio. Aren’t they fun?
They’ve beens surely the main characters immediately after the couple and they gave a special touch to all the event.
All the guests wanted to a picture with them and their presence made lot of ‘rumor’ at Villa del Balbianello and inhabitants of the village clos by for all day.
Their main role was escorting Hilde, who arrived from the lake by boat.
Ceremony setting replicated exactely the famous movie scene, with red flowers and romantic lake view. A dream!

An unforgettable atmosphere, Hilde and Jean Erik exchanged their mutual vows and rings accompanied by classic music notes.
After the ceremony all the group moved to the Loggia for a toast and photo session until sunset.
Everybody was astonished by the beauty of Villa del Balbianello and Lake Como landscapes. Time flew incredibly fast: it’s already time to jump on the boats and reach the reception dinner venue where the party continued till 2am in the morning.

From my point of view, as planner an event like this could be very challenging and fun to coordinate.
I’m really looking for many more ‘Star Wars’ couples: I can’t wait for helping you making your dream comes true!

When Wei-Ting and Sigfrid first saw Balbianello Villa, they had no doubt: this would have been their Italian wedding venue!
And here we started the whole wedding planning. Groom was very active and enthusiast: it has been a real pleasure working together with them to built the perfect wedding day.
We went through every single detail trying to make a mix of the 2 strong cultures: Italian one and Taiwan one.

Hand-painted parasol, gifts for the guests (Chinese gift for the Italians and Italian gift for the Taiwanese) and all the atmosphere was a perfect combination of different customs for this unforgettable Lake Como wedding.

Sigfrid and Wei-Ting Lake Como fairy tale began with a ‘cinematographic’ setting: the beautiful lake view ceremony, performed in the terrace of the Star Wars movie!
The guests arrived by boat. They picked-up the beautiful parasols and they and attended the ceremony handling the beautiful lace ceremony booklet with the red stamp reporting the names of the couple and the wedding date. This is another Chinese interesting custom!
A special thank to the lovely musicians: they’ve been great! They created a perfect atmosphere for the ceremony!

The celebration continued with a rich aperitif under the Canfora Tree Terrace where delicious drinks and food have been served while the couple took a lovely walk for their wedding pictures together with our great photographer Roberto Rapetti of SilverStars Photography.
I take the opportunity to really thank him and his staff for the great job made with us during the whole season!

The dinner was planned under the magnificent Balbianello Loggia, overlooking Lake Como.
Refined round tables, richly decorated with flowers crowns and floating candles, surprised the guests arriving to take their seats.

Being a small group I suggested bride and groom to change table at each course, in order to share their time with all the guests and they really loved this idea!
During the night they had the opportunity to dine at all the tables and this was highly appreciated from the invited guests.
The whole group really enjoined food, wines and impeccable service.

In the meanwhile the bride opted for a change of dress and wore her Chinese beautiful red bridal dress to show it to the Italian side of the family. She was simply gorgeous and ready for cutting the cake.
The cake was very special indeed! A Modern, squared and finely decorated cake following the bride taste and indications.
Cutting was made on the notes of her favorite Italian song: ‘A te’ by Italian signer Jovanotti.
What a dream!

Another wedding on Lake Como, I remember all of them and I can say everytime for me is just an amazing day!

Many of you write us asking further information about Villa del Balbianello rental. For this reason we would love to give you more information on our blog that we hope could be useful.

Italian Lakes Wedding Team now is happy to provide you the official rates of Balbianello Villa.
We tried to be the most exhaustive we could but please feel free to contact us if you find something not clear or if you may need additional details.

Balbianello is one of the most beautiful and unspoiled Villas of the area reachable by boat thus giving your guests the opportunity of living a “different” experience.
FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano – Italian Environment Fund) preserves the most important Italian monumental Villas and gardens and it manages Villa del Balbianello too. It has agreed us the permission to use the Villa for our events.

We hope you will appreciate the uniqueness of this amazing setting and stunning view as much as we do!
The breath-taking ceremony can be celebrated outdoor overlooking the lake. At Villa del Balbianello can be performed civil legally blessing ceremonies from Monday to Saturday (never on Sunday) Villa del Balbianello offers the opportunity of using the venue for:

• Only the ceremony (max 2 hours staying).
• Ceremony + aperitif / cocktail (max 3 hours staying).
• Ceremony + complete reception (max 6 hours staying) with option of extending the time till 2am at an extra fee charge.

Depending on the guests number, ceremony can be celebrated on the Terrace (small groups) or under the Loggia (bigger groups).
For groups smaller than 50 guests, the ceremony can be celebrated also while the Villa is still open to tourists (this option is cheaper than having the Villa in exclusive). This means in the afternoon, earlier than 6pm.
For groups of 50 persons and over, ceremonies are only allowed when the Villa is closed to public visitors (this has a higher cost) and therefore with the Villa in exclusive.

The Villa is available at exclusive use:
• On Monday and Wednesday at any time starting from early afternoon (these are Balbianello closing days).
• Every day after 6pm (on Sunday only symbolic ceremonies).

The rental fees of Villa del Balbianello depend on the guests’ number attending the wedding / event.

PRICE LIST 2011

CEREMONY (symbolic or civil) – (only rental fee – max 2 hours staying):
• Up to 20 guests Euros 1.200 + 21% vat with the Villa still open to visitors, € 1.700 + 21% vat on Monday and Wednesday with Villa closed (after 6pm), Euros 4000 + 21% vat on Saturday.
• 21 to 50 guests Euros 2.200 + 21% vat with the Villa still open to visitors a€ 3.200 + 21% vat on Monday and Wednesday with Villa closed (after 6pm), Euros 4000 + 21% vat on Saturday.
• Over 50 guests always Euros 4.300 + 21% vat but only with the Villa available after 6pm or also earlier only on Monday and Wednesday.

CEREMONY + APERITIF / COCKTAIL – (only rental fee – max 3 hours staying):
• Up to 20 guests Euros 1.400 + 21% vat with the Villa still open to visitors and € 2.200 + 21% vat with Villa closed (after 6pm), Euros 4000 + 21% vat on Saturday.
• 21 to 50 guests Euros 2.400 + 21% vat with the Villa still open to visitors and € 3.700 + 21% vat with Villa closed (after 6pm), Euros 4000 + 21% vat on Saturday.
• 51 to 100 guests Euros 5200 + 21% vat.
• Over 100 guests Euros 52 + 21% vat per person.

CEREMONY + RECEPTION – (only rental fee – max 6 hours staying):
• Up to 20 guests Euros 4.000 + 21% vat
• Up to 40 guests Euros 6.000 + 21% vat
• From 41 to 70 guests Euros 7.000 + 21% vat
• From 71 to 80 guests Euros 8.000 + 21% vat
• From 81 to 100 guests Euros 10.000 + 21% vat
• From 100 to 150 guests and over Euros 100 + 21% vat per person

For civil ceremonies please consider the following extra costs:
• Town Hall fees from 1.200 Euros).
• Interpreter fee (100 / 150 Euros + 21% vat).
• Chairs (10 Euros + 21% vat each).

For symbolic ceremonies please consider the following extra costs:
• Celebrant fee (from 400 up to 700 Euros + 21% vat).
• Chairs (10 Euros + 21% vat each).

The Villa is available until maximum Midnight – this is only if you have here both ceremony + reception – but can be available until 2am paying an extra fee of Euros 2.000 + 21% vat.

The menus are from 170 / 200 + 21% vat per person, this cost is on top to all the other fees above mentioned (please consider it just as an indication since the catering quote depends on many different factors such as guests number, season, day of the week etc…).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Villa del Balbianello has only two small indoor rooms (Library and Cartographer room) available in case of bad weather or particular requests. These rooms are one opposite to the other, at the two sides of the Loggia.

The use of these 2 rooms is subject to the following costs:
• The two rooms are both available only on Monday and Wednesday.
• During the other days it’s only available one or the other at your choice.

The costs are:
• The costs are upon request.
• Dinner under the Loggia (which is the only roof covered place of the Villa) is only allowed for groups of maximum 45 guests.
  For groups of max 70 guests this is only accepted on Monday and Wednesday.
  Also with small groups, marquee is necessary to create the ceremony space and dancing space repaired from rain.
  Over 45 guests / or 70 guests the dinner is served in the Gardens where it’s mandatory to put a marquee with floor.
• The cost of the marquee goes from 12.000 Euros (for small groups) up to Euros 35.000 + 21% vat.

• Balbianello doesn’t offer any type of accommodations.
• Balbianello is open only from mid March to mid November
• Balbianello is only reachable by boat, therefore there are extra costs for the transfers to and from the Villa.
  We would like to suggest another opportunity too.

We can also advise to use this wonderful spot of Lake Como as an amazing set for your wedding pictures. In this case we could arrange for you the ceremony and reception somewhere else on the lake and then let you reach Villa del Balbianello afterward with a boat tour for your wedding pictures. This will involve a smaller budget but will let you enjoy the beauty of Villa del Balbianello anyway.

• Cost for photography set for photographer and bride and groom to the villa is 100 euro.

You can also decide to involve your guests in this tour letting appreciate the beauty of Villa del Balbianello too. Rate will be only entrance ticket.

Only Gardens:
• ADULTS: € 6,00
• CHILDREN (4-12 YEARS): € 3,00

Gardens + Villa:
Visit with guide mandatory, groups of max 15 persons each turn, duration of 60 minutes:

The bride chose as accommodation a luxury hotel in Bellagio, with a stunning sight on Lake Como. Here, between ancient rooms full of history and precious furniture, bride got ready with gorgeous make up and wearing her wonderful Vera Wang dress.

Three different groups left Bellagio by boat leading ceremony venue: Villa del Balbianello.

The first group was made up by groom and his best men and ushers, who had the important task to verify that everything were perfect… a great help for the wedding planner, thank you very much guys!

The second group was made up by all the guests, coming from all over the world, not only Singapore and England, but also Taiwan, China, Scotland, South Africa, Norway and many other countries: a really international entourage!

And the last, but absolutely not the least, was obviously bridal boat, with her father and bridesmaids.

After a thrilling ceremony under the stunning Balbianello Loggia, overlooking Lake Como, cocktail, organized on one of the wonderful terrace of this unique Villa, waited for the newlyweds and their guests.

It was difficult to leave the magnificent Balbianello Villa, with its stunning views on Lake Como, where a photographer can take amazing pictures of newlyweds.

It is time to party and everybody left to lead private Villa near Bellagio prepared for the wedding reception.

The reception venue is an ancient historical Villa overlooking the lake. This stunning property has its own pier, a private pool, big gardens and seven beautiful double rooms, which can accommodate up to 14 guests. A perfect place where staying for a week, spending an unforgettable Lake Como holiday and celebrating the wedding with friends and relatives!

The first wedding we tell you about is Sarah-Louise and Karl’s in Villa del Balbianello in Lenno.

Everytime Amy works in Villa del Balbianello she is always amazed by this wonderful venue:

I am so, so lucky to visit the beautiful places that wedding photography takes me to and to be witness to some of the most magical, romantic moments in some of the most magical, romantic settings on earth. It’s almost impossible to choose my favourite venue given that a Castle in Tuscany differs so much from a Villa on the Amalfi Coast, a top Hotel in Rome and the stunning gardens alongside the Italian Lakes. However, if I was forced to choose my favourite wedding venue then this would be it: Villa del Balbianello, Lenno, Lake Como.

After getting ready to Grand Hotel Britannia Excelsior in Cadenabbia, Sarah-Louise and Karl reached Villa del Balbianello with a motorboat.

The blessing has been held under the famous Loggia of the villa with the classical music background of Koinè String Quartet.
As Sarah-Louise wanted the quartet played a classical repertoire starting from Pachelbel’s Canon for the bride’s arrival and ended with Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Georg Friedrich Handel.

Confetti – not just ordinary confetti however! Sarah-Louise’s mum had saved this from her own wedding 30-odd years ago.

She’d decided back then that if she ever had a daughter, she would throw this confetti for her on her own wedding day!

It took Arlette and Guido (dutch/german couple) just 5 months to decide and plan their wedding day at Como lake.
We – Romana and Britta, their Creative Wedding planners from Italian Lakes Wedding team – have enjoyed a lot all the preparation steps and especially “the” day itself! This couple during the preparation period hadn’t had the possibility to come to Italy, so that they both had to trust in our ideas and suggestions…. but at the end they were completely happy and ourselves completely satisfied of their happiness and our job.

Arlette and Guido intended to have a more intimate wedding as possible to enjoy all the day long just with the very strict family and we believe we have realized it! Everything around their wedding has been focussed on this main aspect, so that at the end of that day we really felt it as a pure family feast.

We suggested them the familiar but very nice accomodation that offers Cà del Lago: it is a small agritourism in Consiglio di Rumo, with a small but fine wellness area. Gianluigi and his wife Ornella are the perfect hosts and let all their guests feel in Cà del Lago the same warmth like home. As Arlette came down the stairs in her beautiful dress everyone was moved and Guido gave her a fantastic modern bouquet of long callas, that our florist Barbara Botta prepared with lots of love!

No doubt at all for the decision in Dongo’s Sala D’Oro, where the civil ceremony took place. This is really one of the most beautiful and historical townhalls for weddings at Como Lake, with direct view to the lake. Arlette could not hold back the tears in her eyes during the whole ceremony. Fortunately we had a funny wedding celebrant, that made the bride and the groom also smile.

In a hidden street next to the city hall, we had our first reception. On the small terrace of the little gem “El Rualet” Maurizio served real italian fingerfood and could also entertain some of our guests directly in dutch, since he spent 20 years in Holland before coming back to Dongo two years ago.

A wedding on the lake cannot miss a boat trip! Our lovely Giancarlo took us with a short trip to Villa Balbianello. The Villa is on the promontory of Lenno and right on the lake. The villa is simply unique, with magic gardens and a fantastic view on the lake both from the three arcades Loggia (where also civil and simbolic ceremonies can take place) and from the panoramic terraced garden.
The fotos Claudio Olivari took there are very special!! Everyone has got to see Villa del Balbianello once in his life!

Just 2 minutes far from Villa Balbianello there’s the Como lake’s island: Isola Comacina. On the island’s bar terrace with wonderful view to the lake our group sat down for a long time in the sun having a fantastic wedding cake with small sugar callas on it and coffee and cappuccino. September sun on that day was so beautiful that I believe Arlette, Guido and all their guests could have spent all the day on the terrace in the sun…

But we had to return to Cà del Lago for having our wedding dinner, that started with aperitivo at 7 pm on the veranda and continued then inside the restaurant. In Cà del Lago they prepare all the food by themselves, so that it really tastes wonderful. Our couple Arlette and Guido and their guests could enjoy it a loooooot….

For that perfect day we only have to say a big thank you to Barbara, Maurizio, Claudio, Annalisa, Giancarlo, Miria, Gianluigi and Ornella.

Arlette und Guido wollten eher eine intime Hochzeit haben und den ganzen Tag nur mit dem engen Familienkreis genießen und wir glauben, wir haben es verwirklicht! Alles rund um ihre Hochzeit ist auf diesem Hauptaspekt fokussiert worden, so dass wir am Ende dieses Tages wirklich das Gefühl hatten, es war ein glückliches nd gelungenes Familienfest.

Als Unterkunnt schlugen wir ihnen, das sehr schöne Cà del Lago vor. Es ist ein kleiner Agriturismus in Consiglio di Rumo, mit kleinem, aber feinem Wellnessbereich. Gianluigi und seine Frau Ornella sind die perfekten Gastgeber und lassen ihre Gäste in Cà del Lago die gleiche Wärme wie zu Hause erleben. Als Arlette die Treppe herunterkamin ihrem wunderschönen Kleid, war jeder bewegt und Guido gab ihr ein fantastisches modernes Bouquet aus langen Callas, dass unsere Floristin Barbara Botta mit viel Liebe gebunden hat!

Absolut kein Zweifel bei der Entscheidung für den Sala d’Oro in Dongo für die standesamtliche Trauung! Das ist wirklich eine der schönsten und ältesten Säle für Hochzeiten am Comer See, mit direktem Blick auf den See. Arlette konnte nur noch Tränen in den Augen haben, die ganze Zeremonie lang. Zum Glück hatten wir einen lustingen Hochzeitszelebranten, der die beiden Sposi und ihren Gäste auch zum lächeln gebacht hat.

In einer versteckten Straße neben dem Rathaus haben wir den Umtrunk mit Glückwunschen an das Paar organisiert. Auf der kleinen Terrasse des kleinen Juwel El Rualet hat Maurizio italienisches Fingerfood serviert und konnte auch einige Gäste direkt auf Niederländisch unterhalten, weil er 20 Jahre in Holland verbracht hat, bevor er vor zwei Jahren wieder zurück nach Dongo kam.

Bei einer Hochzeit auf dem See darf eine Bootsfahrt absolut nicht fehlen! Unser lieber Giancarlo hat uns zur Villa Balbianello. Die Villa befindet sich auf der Landzunge von Lenno und ihr Garten liegt direkt am See. Die Villa ist einfach einzigartig, mit magischem Terrassengarten und fantastischer Aussicht auf den See, sowohl aus den drei Arkaden-Loggia (wo auch zivile und symbolischen Zeremonie stattfinden können) als auch von dem Panorama-Terrassengarten.

Jeder sollte die Villa del Balbianello einmal in seinem Leben sehen!

Nur 2 Minuten Fahrt von der Villa Balbianello gibt es die Comer See Insel: die Isola Comacina.
Auf Terrasse der Inselbar hat unserer Gruppe für eine lange Zeit in der Sonne gesessen, dazu eine leckere Hochzeitstorte mit kleinen Zuckercallas drauf und Kaffee und Cappuccino. Das Leben kann ja soooo schön sein!
Die Septembersonne an diesem Tag war so warm, dass wir der Meinung sind, dass Arlette, Guido und alle ihre Gäste den ganzen Tag auf der Terrasse in der Sonne verbringen hätten könnten.

Aber wir mussten wieder zurück zum Cà del Lago, weil unser Hochzeitstag weiter mit Abendessen gehen sollte. Der Aperitif hat um 19 Uhr auf der Veranda begonnen und eine Stunde später sassen alle im Restaurant, um das Dinner zu geniessen. Im Cà del Lago bereiten sie alle Speisen selbst zu, das schmeckt man auch. Unser Brautpaar hat dies deutlich geniessen können.

Zu diesem perfekten Tag müssen wir nun ein großes Dankeschön sagen, an Barbara, Maurizio, Claudio, Annalisa, Giancarlo, Miria, Gianluigi und Ornella.

After the great and special rehearsal dinner to a beautiful Lake Como beach club, the Big Day has finally arrived for Antonin & Louise.
Many details made this wedding really different!

Both bride and groom stayed to Villa D’Este where they spent few relaxing days enjoying the lake and warm summer weather.
On the wedding day Antonin joined his friends who stayed for almost a week in a fantastic Villa with pool and private pier located in Laglio.

Ceremony was arranged to Villa del Balbianello followed by an wonderful reception in a private Villa in Cernobbio, on the lakeshore: a real masterpiece of the Lake Como architecture.
From this Villa, Antonin and his best men got on a charming Riva motorboat to go to Villa del Balbianello: they were really handsome.

In the meanwhile, the bride, together with her dad and the bridesmaids left Villa D’Este on a second charming Riva motorboat and reached Antonin who already reached Villa del Balbianello waiting for her together with family and friends, all very excited.
Louise was so beautiful in her wedding gown!

The ceremony was celebrated in the Loggia of Villa del Balbianello and conducted by a close friend of the couple.

All decorations were precious and elegant, with a big arch of flowers as main detail.

For the reception we worked a lot at Cernobbio Villa to create a perfect atmosphere. It had to be perfect!
After a long preparation the result was magnificent.

The cocktail was served in a lateral terrace which was adorned with tables, buffets and flowers, while the dinner was arranged on the main terrace, with a long table for the couple and their close family and friends, surrounded by many other round tables.

Centerpieces were something to be remember. High chandeliers totally covered with greenery and enriched with cascades of precious orchids and ivory candles.

Antonin and Louise wanted a real party where music, dance and scenery had a leading role.
For this reason, the band chosen for their event was great! It was made up with 11 musicians who involved the guests in dances and entertainment since the beginning of the aperitif.
Wonderful Italian Food, dance and lot of fun!

But our couple still wanted to surprise their guests with stunning fireworks on the Lake, accompanied by touching and romantic music.

And we do not have to forget the cut of the cake! It was totally unusual.
For this special moment they decided to get on a stage and cut the cake at the rhythm of a Samba.

After this special moment the party continued until late at night: a night that nobody will never forget.

Villa Carlotta is located in Tremezzo, close by of 2 famous destination weddings locations on Lake Como: Bellagio and Varenna. Villa Carlotta is one of the most famous villas on lake.
It is a wonderful place where you will be able to appreciate its structure, its works of art and its wide park with many tropical and exotic trees and coloured flowers. In spring blossoms of Azaleas and Rhododendros are really simply amazing.

The wedding civil ceremony can be celebrated inside the Villa in one of the rooms, or outdoor, in one of the beautiful terrace. “Sala dell’amore” (Room of Love), where the ceremony can take be arranged, it is embellished by 2 famous masterpieces representing famous “Amore e Psiche” (Love and Psyche) of Canova school and “Ultimo bacio di Giulietta e Romeo” (Last Kiss of Romeo and Juliet) by Francesco Hayez, one of the most admired painting.

Thanks to the wonderful sunny day, Elisabeth and Oyvind decided to celebrate their wedding outdoor ion the terrace with a great a breathtaking view over Lake Como. About thirty guests were present to the event: relatives and friends coming from both Norway and Sweden.

At the end of the ceremony, Elisabeth and Oyvind took their time for some unforgettable pictures inside Villa Carlotta’s stunning rooms and outdoor, in its amazing gardens.

After a short walk along Tremezzo lakeside, newlyweds and their guests reached a typical Italian Pizzeria for a very informal meal.

During a nice walk on Tremezzo, Elizabeth and Oyvind took the chance to visit a typical Cantina (Wine Cellar) where they could enjoy a delicious glass of Italian wine.
At Tremezzo Pier, newlyweds and their guests left for a funny trip on the lake to reach reached Lenno Town. It is just here where Villa del Balbianello is.

For their reception Elizabeth and Oyvind chose a quaint restaurant on Lenno lakeshore with a beautiful garden and beautiful marquees covered with white delicate fabrics. A really unique atmosphere!

Although our newlyweds’ Big Day is not over yet! An elegant motorboat Colombo Super Indos was waiting for Elisabeth and Oyvind for another fantastic tour of the Lake (this time for our couple only!).

Oyvind also tried the inebriation of driving this legendary motorboat of the 70’s! During the boat trip, Elisabeth and Oyvind couldn’t resist and asked for a lot of pictures with Balbianello Villa as magnificent background of their wedding photographic service.

It has been really a long day, but full of joy, fun and sun! This was exactly what Elisabeth and Oyvind were looking for their wedding on the Lake Como!
