Have you ever had the feeling of knowing someone from the infinite past?
Definitely these are feelings arising when lovers look into each others eyes, lost in rapture, hypnotized by its vastness. Steve and Sarah flew all the way from UK to find a location that could match their antique and noble acquaintance!
What could be a better place than Italy? A country full of story, sharing with its lovers hidden niches of infinite beauty.
During their visit around the Lake Garda, after visiting many characteristic villages and famous locations,Steve and Sarah came across a tiny well kept village in the North of the Lake called Malcesine. In this location filled with colorful little artisan shops, family run restaurants and the superb surrounding nature, they finally found what they were looking for!
The venue to tie the knot was Scaligero Castle, stately rising from the village promontory! The Castle has a very long and rich history. It had many owners who kept it polished and magnificent through the centuries. It was built in the first millennium by the Lombards and then destroyed and rebuilt by the Franks. From there on, it has been a jewel in the hands either of Republic of Venice, of Austrian-Hungarian Empire, of France and of many Italian lineages. Then it was declared National Monument in 1206.
In this rare pearl set in a fairy tale landscape, Steve and Sarah decided to celebrate their most important event as a couple: their wedding!
When the day finally arrived, everything was ready for their wonderful ceremony, young page boys and flower girls, cheerful guests were waiting for this very important day. Cascades of flowers were awaiting the couple for their vows exchange!
Our skillful photographers from Photo 27 Studio were able to capture unique shots, so delicate and important but so qucik to vanish in a heartbeat. We love especially the following photo, Sarah’s farewell to her previous life and Steve’s waiting, longing to start his new life with Sarah… and finally they exchanged vows and rings! After Sarah-Louise and Karl today we would like to speak about Lucy and Rick’s wedding on Lake Como. They chose two great professionals. Amy Turner for photography services and Koinè String Quartet for their music entertainment.
Rick and Lucy got married on a summer-like day with a warm sun.
Ceremony was held in the wonderful church of Ascensione in Cadenabbia the same church Kristi and Ben chose. Do you remember about our post An Unforgettable Wedding at Villa del Balbianello?
During the protestant ceremony Koinè String Quartet played some classical tunes as per bride and groom’s requests, like Marriage of Fiagaro by Mozart, Music for the Royal Fireworks by Handel and Air on a G String by Bach.
Lucy had a pretty bouquet made up with white callas and Vendela roses. Decorations in the church was arranged with only white lilies on the pews leading the bride to the altar. Continue Reading »
It seems that Amy Turner photograher and Koinè Quartet is a very good matching lately! Koinè String Quartet is our string quartet and Amy Turner is a young English photographer who lives in Umbria – Center Italy.
What have they in common? They both have a large experience for wedding on Lake Como and they have been both chosen by our couple for the planning of their wedding, and they really liked working together!
With this first post we would love to show you some images taken from weddings planned on Lake Como where both Koinè Quartet and Amy Turner were present.
The first wedding we tell you about is Sarah-Louise and Karl’s in Villa del Balbianello in Lenno.
Everytime Amy works in Villa del Balbianello she is always amazed by this wonderful venue:
I am so, so lucky to visit the beautiful places that wedding photography takes me to and to be witness to some of the most magical, romantic moments in some of the most magical, romantic settings on earth. It’s almost impossible to choose my favourite venue given that a Castle in Tuscany differs so much from a Villa on the Amalfi Coast, a top Hotel in Rome and the stunning gardens alongside the Italian Lakes. However, if I was forced to choose my favourite wedding venue then this would be it: Villa del Balbianello, Lenno, Lake Como.
After getting ready to Grand Hotel Britannia Excelsior in Cadenabbia, Sarah-Louise and Karl reached Villa del Balbianello with a motorboat. Continue Reading »
At Italian Lakes Wedding we are always looking for something new to suggest our couples.
Music for example!
Are you thinking about something elegant like a string quartet but you also think that this solution could be too classical? Are you thinking about some classical music but with a touch of vitality to add some freshness to your event? Electric violin music is the right choice!
Electric violin is a very high tech instrument. It can play every kind of music from classical, rock, jazz, swing, tango and latin. It can match with every instrument, piano in particular, electric guitar or flute. It is so versatile and perfect that can fit to every occasion from wedding ceremony to aperitif and dances for the after dinner party.
Musicians of Joy Ensemble prepared for you several short demos to let you know the great potentiality and magic of electric violin.
You can listen from Beatles to movies soundtracks such as Chocolat, Amelie, and the Royal Tenenbaums.
Just click on Ipod button to listen to the music.

In summer 2008 I had the pleasure to meet Amy and Tom for the first time. She is a lovely Irish girl and he is a handsome English guy. Such a great couple! After visiting many venues across Northern Lakes area they reached Orta San Giulio and they fell in love with that immediately. Amy and Tom thought that Lake Orta incorporated the precise idea they had for an intimate and romantic wedding on the lake.
My first wedding of Summer Season 2009 was Amy and Tom’s: 3rd July 2009. Amy arrived some days before to settle in Orta and define some last details.
She spent some lovely days before the event, with her parents and family in a lovely villa on the lake that I often suggest to my couples. It is just in front of Ortello Gulf.
And finally the wedding day came!
Amy and her father took a nice walk from the lovely house on the shores to reach village church. Tom, flower girls, purple dressed bridesmaids and all guests were all waiting for her there. Lilac was the theme of whole wedding.
Amy choose this wonderful color for her main theme and Monika Andenmatten from La Piccola Selva created wonderful arrangements to accomplish her desires. She based her work on a color palette going from white to purple-lilac. Monika created wonderful church arrangements for the balusters and external columns of the church itself.
At the end of the ceremony… just a lovely kiss of bride and groom! Photographer Andrea Dapueto took a wonderful shot of it. Andrea Dapueto was the perfect reporter for such a wonderful event. Continue Reading »
Torri del Benaco is one of the most appreciated destination weddings of Lake Garda thanks to the romantic frame of the Castello Scaligero and the picturesque little port on the lake. In this fabulous scene that Mercedes and Eugene, a young English couple celebrated its wedding: from the team of Italian Lakes Wedding we were represented by the musicians of the Koinè String Quartet that ensured the perfect musical background of the event with their rich repertoire of classical music.
We show you here some pictures of this romantic wedding thanks to the images of the photographer GUIDO PELLATI, from the Pellati Photographic Studio of Bardolino.
The wedding of Mercedes and Eugene was celebrated in the shadow of the huge lemon plants of the Limonaia (Lemon Groves) of the Castello Scaligero, one of the last citrus fruit greenhouses still functioning on Lake Garda, since 1760.
Few days ago, we received a kind letter from Don and Jean, lovely parents of Mercedes, saying once again thanks to the team of Italian Lakes Wedding and the Koinè String Quartet for the great success of the event. Here you can read their kind words: It hardly seems possible that two weeks have passed since we were with you in Italy – and we have so many wonderful memories of that special occasion! We wanted to place on record our sincere thanks to you and the musicians for providing such excellent support and for taking so much trouble to seek out and play the music we requested. It was, in fact, exactly as we had hoped – with the music setting the right atmosphere for each part of the ceremony. We could not have wished for a better service than the one you provided.
Our daughter, Mercedes and her husband, Eugene, join us in this expression of thanks – and we would be happy, of course, to recommend your musicians to any others who may be planning a similar event.
Best wishes.
Don and Jean Steele.
We would like to thank to Don and Jean from our side for their appreciation of our work, and that of the Koinè String Quartet, and we wish all the best and happiness again to the newly wed couple. Continue Reading »
