In summer 2008 I had the pleasure to meet Amy and Tom for the first time. She is a lovely Irish girl and he is a handsome English guy. Such a great couple! After visiting many venues across Northern Lakes area they reached Orta San Giulio and they fell in love with that immediately. Amy and Tom thought that Lake Orta incorporated the precise idea they had for an intimate and romantic wedding on the lake.

My first wedding of Summer Season 2009 was Amy and Tom’s: 3rd July 2009. Amy arrived some days before to settle in Orta and define some last details.

She spent some lovely days before the event, with her parents and family in a lovely villa on the lake that I often suggest to my couples. It is just in front of Ortello Gulf.

And finally the wedding day came!
Amy and her father took a nice walk from the lovely house on the shores to reach village church. Tom, flower girls, purple dressed bridesmaids and all guests were all waiting for her there. Lilac was the theme of whole wedding.

Amy choose this wonderful color for her main theme and Monika Andenmatten from La Piccola Selva created wonderful arrangements to accomplish her desires. She based her work on a color palette going from white to purple-lilac. Monika created wonderful church arrangements for the balusters and external columns of the church itself.

At the end of the ceremony… just a lovely kiss of bride and groom! Photographer Andrea Dapueto took a wonderful shot of it. Andrea Dapueto was the perfect reporter for such a wonderful event. Continue Reading »

Last but not least part 5 of our Summer Season Weddings on Lake Orta.
Today I will tell you about one of my favorite weddings of this year: Gillian and Louis’ special day.

Gillian and Louis chose as theme color pink and apple green but what made the event special were multicolored kilts of guests.

She is Scottish and he is Italo-Scottish and they both chose Orta San Giulio for Louis’ family Piemonte heritage.

Sweet and lovely Gillian look like a pretty princess when she walked on aisle of Villa Bossi Garden.

Her father was by her side wearing a kilt, but he wasn’t alone!
All guests had it on to bring a corner of Scotland in Orta.

As all the other weddings that I mentioned in Summer Season Wedding in Orta session, Gillian and Louis had a great sunny day. It was the perfect weather for an outdoor civil ceremony in the town hall of Orta San Giulio.

Floral arrangements were created by Paola one of the florist designers of La Piccola Selva.
She created fresh and natural bunches of flowers for the decoration of the gate and the columns of Villa Bossi.
Bridal and bridesmaid bouquet had the same style Gillian wanted. A perfect match between baby rose, apple green and white.

After the ceremony Gillian and Louis walked along ancient pedestrian roads of the village.

A wedding in Orta is not complete without a tour on the lake to discover the landscapes and beautiful St. Julius Island.
Here you can find amazing spots for unforgettable wedding pictures. Continue Reading »

Welcome to part 4 of our Summers Season Wedding in Orta appointment.
I will give an overview on some of the events we followed during 2009 summer in 5 posts.
The thing Summer Season Weddings have in common brides and groom choice to opt for Villa Bossi and its wonderful garden to celebrate their civil ceremony.
Every single couple personalized and made their event different and unique in all senses.
And so Maria and Chris did.

Maria and Chris chose to celebrate their ceremony in the garden of Villa Bossi first and the in the wonderful church of Assunta for a moving blessing.

Maria and Chris’ wedding was a simple and cosy event, they just wanted to have it this way! They came here with few friends and close family from United Kingdom.
Maria and Chris decided to arrange a different event but at the same time it was really really romantic!

For once in Orta history bride did not arrived by boat but from narrow and medieval roads in Orta village.
She was with her father and at their arrival a lovely flower girls was waiting for her as a surprise! Continue Reading »

Third appointment with our summer season wedding is again about a red themed wedding.
A trendy color in the last few years.

Shawn and Raul are a nice couple who fell in love with Italy. After taking in consideration some marine venues in Portofino and Zoagli on Italian Riviera, they finally opted for Lake Orta’s romantic atmosphere. A great achievement for us who always try to let the world know how wonderful this place is.

Shawn and Raul arrived directly from United States to find this cosy village’s appeal. they defined it as Just a Fairy Tale.

Shawn arrived by herself to Villa Bossi with a motorboat.
On the town hall pier her maid of honor and sister was waiting for her. They sang together a moving traditional american song.

Shaw took her walk on the aisle of Villa Bossi that was literally covered with colored rose petals.

For the ceremony Shawn decided for a very glamour dress with a crystals collar and little veil on her face. Her shoes were red and matched perfectly her bouquet made up of 24 red roses and Swarovski pins. Continue Reading »

We are back with the second part of the special session of posts on couples that on Summer 2009 chose Orta and Villa Bossi for their wedding in Italy.

Even if these couples chose similar options they personalized their wedding making it unique and very different from each other.

Laura and Kieran chose for their wedding cranberry red as theme color. They added a touch of this shade of red in every detail starting from bridesmaid dress. She was nice Laura’s sister.

Cranberry Red was the color that Manuela the flower designer used to create bridal bouquet. It was made of wonderful Lily Stargazer.

At the end of the ceremony newly weds and their guests had a pretty walk along the pretty roads of Orta village up to the main square to take wonderful wedding pictures. Continue Reading »

There are many couples that during Summer 2009 chose Orta San Giulio as their wedding destination. I will tell you more about some of them in following posts, such as Amy and Tom or Cassy and Gary.
In the meanwhile I’m here to tell you some of the details I will always keep in my heart of several lovely couples I’ve planned the wedding for.

Starting from today we will present here short posts in which you will know some couples that this summer chose Orta San Giulio.

Side to Orta as destination these couples all chose the same venue for their civil ceremony:
Villa Bossi the town hall of Orta San Giulio.

Villa Bossi is an extremely appealing venue. There is no other venue like this in Italy. Bride arrives with a rowing boat (or motor boat) with bridesmaids, by herself but most of of the times with her father.

Just after getting off the boat, bride walks on the aisle with a hundreds of rose petals on. Groom and guests are all waiting for her under the villa porch where the civil ceremony is going to be held.

Each of the couple that chose Orta and Villa Bossi for their wedding personalized every single detail of the ceremony itself and reception to follow making it unique and wonderful.

The first couple I would like to tell you about are Nathalie and Tim. The images you see here are taken from their wedding.

Theme color Nathalie and Tim chose was lime yellow wonderfully worn by pretty bridesmaid, the sister of the bride.

Both bridal and bridesmaid bouquets were lime yellow too. Nathaile chose a great color for her wedding! Continue Reading »

Italian Lakes are simply magic: their atmosphere, their surroundings cannot be compared to other places in the world.
Many towns and villages are very famous already but the area still hold lot of surprises.

We’re very proud to introduce you a magnificent private Villa, called Villa San Martino, which is located on Lake Varese (the Lumbardy side of Maggiore Lake).

This venue is very particular due to its Liberty architecture style, absolutely unusual for the area.

The place is breathtaking from your arrival: the ancient gate opens the view on a large tree – lined promenade hiding the beautiful venue.

Once arrived up on the hill you’ll be surprised by an enchanting park and swimming pool overlooking the lake.

The outdoor area is perfect for a spring / summer wedding since this is so spacious and with such a lovely view.

This is the location chosen by a romantic pregnant bride in the last August month. Continue Reading »

As we promised, Alessandro Ambrosetti photographer put on disposal full Sandra and Mirko’s wedding PHOTO GALLERY, the wedding where I worked as floral designer. In today’s post I’m pleased to show you some of the photos I just love.

I start with this wonderful shot taken inside Castello di Miasino, the venue bride and groom choose for their reception. A perfect combination of elements: bright chandelier and the big coat of arms on the wall behind loving bride and groom. This is for sure a first prize photograph! Very good Alessandro Ambrosetti!

Sandra and Mirko are a young italian-german couple who choose Lake Orta as their wedding destination. Religious ceremony was held in Orta San Giulio village inside the lovely church of Maria Assunta. Bride opted for a classical floral arrangement choosing just a main flower: big Lilyum Longiflorum with simple Aspidistra leaves and Gypsophila.

Following bride’s wishes, I created for Sandra’s bouquet: a round and compact shape using Avalanche roses without any other greenery except for Gypsophila on the basis. Just a trendy style, what brides are looking for, now. Thanks to beautiful day, after the ceremony Sandra and Mirko took a walk in tiny Orta village roads and lakeshore, the perfect frame for magic wedding pictures.

Orange was the main color for the reception to Castello di Miasino. A solar and happy color, one of the most requested for summer 2009. I created glass cubes centerpieces with floating roses and gel crystals, adding some spread orange rose petals on the tables. Continue Reading »

Flower designers like myself consider that flower arranging in a location can be one of the most creative moments of a wedding reception. The table centre is an essential element which often distinguishes the style of the event, as do the floral decorations for the aperitif or buffet.

Clearly, quite apart from the flowers and finger food, the ambiance is of major importance too. Your wedding reception on Lake Orta deserves the Ristorante Hotel L’Approdo at Pettenasco which offers a stunning gazebo on the lake shore, with a view over the Bagnera Gulf and the Orta promontory, with Villa Crespi’s evocative minaret standing out on the horizon.

Maria and Simone are a Hispano-Italian couple who chose the Hotel L’Approdo for their wedding reception. They decided on two large floral arrangements placed on a tall tapering glass base for the aperitif table. I wanted the most natural, free style possible on this occasion, with dominating shades of pink and white.
The finishing touch was given by the pink Gypsophila and the Godetia, a gorgeous summer flower which is not all that well known but is extremely versatile. Continue Reading »

We’ve never talked about it in all wedding color schemes we mentioned.
But now It’s its moment! Summer trend color is: Acid Green.

Acid green is a wonderful color that matches every kind of composition: from classical to very modern, from minimal to very rich ones. If you plan to use it with glass elements, it will be even more beautiful. The perfect match is: glass and acid green. Glass supports are really trendy now, they completely incorporate summer freshness. Acid green too is a frizzy and fresh color that could be the perfect choice for summer season.

If you will like to use acid green as floral color scheme, consider that there are many flowers that naturally have this shade in them. Today I would like to suggest some acid green ideas that I personally love.
First of all let me thank you Enrico Mocci photographer of ArteFotoArona. All floral pictures of in this post are taken by him and he did a wonderful job!
He is really able to catch lovely details thanks to his great wedding picture experience.

Acid Green is a lively color. It recalls open air and freshness. It is a natural color. For this reason floral compositions should be very natural. Round shapse with mass spheres are the best for 2009.
Carnation often is not considered for wedding arrangements, but I saw that in the last few years it has been more requested form couples, thanks to new qualities on market including the acid green one. Round shapes enhance its qualities.

Round shapes again in a tall glass flute. I used cream ranunculus with Ping Pong acid green daisies and classical gypsophila. I also added some blooms of Lathyrus creating an eccentric and casual effect. Continue Reading »
