Most couples chose to get married in spring, because April, May and June are typically considered the appropriate time for a traditional wedding.
But if you are planning to get married in Italy , and in particular in the lakes area, you may consider seriously the idea of getting married in winter and in particular in December.
“Why?”, you may ask. “But because it is Christmas time” I say! And your marriage can take advantage of “the most beautiful time of the year”!
Imagine: all the little villages are filled with Christmas decorations, ligths, candles, and snow capped mountains all around! Isn’t this a gorgeous setting for you photo album?
You can have Christmas holyday menu for you dinner party and what about a Panettone, the classical Italian Christmas cake instead of the usual wedding cake?
But what entices me most (and not just because I am a singer) is Christmas music! Christmas songs are known by everyone and are mostly the same all around the world. They remember us of our childhood, of beautiful moments spent with our parents and relatives, of gifts and kisses, of old friends, of happiness and love…
This is why I always suggest my special Christmas live show to couples getting married in December.
On this webpage you can listen to some samples of the Christmas songs I like most…with a little Christmas present: you can download some of my Christmas songs for FREE!
MERRY CHRISTMAS from Martha J.!

Flower Arrangements by Monika Andenmatten floral designer – La Piccola Selva, lake Orta
As floral designer I’m always looking for interesting and creative solutions but this always depends on bridegrooms choices!
To give you an example Rossella and Giorgio’s wedding was a great occasion to work on a charming theme to me: autumn colors.
Rossella and Giorgio got married last Saturday in Orta San Giulio, lake Orta. A simple ceremony at Villa Bossi followed by a nice reception in wonderful atmosphere of Palazzo Penotti Ubertini.
Bridegroom’s wishe was having a color scheme that could reflect intense Autumn colors with some elements recalling this romantic season that lots of poets love.
As far as the floral arrangements, bouquet and ceremony table arrangement were concerned I opted for a strong contrast between chocolate brown and purple smoothen by soft shades.
I used Black Baccara rose, Leucodendron with Hypericum berries, dry Hydrangea and Gypsum leaves.
On tables at Palazzo Penotti Ubertini I completed the arrangements with rose petals, pine cones and chestnuts.
You can see the final result above. I really hope you like it too!

My name is Karin Brides.
I am classical trained singer, a soprano with a wide vocal range and versatile repertoire. I live on the shores of lake Como and I dearly love it.
Born and raised in Germany I simultaneously studied Lyric Soprano voice and painting/visual arts. I worked and studied in NYC at Off Broadway productions at the Sage Theatre. One of the teachers I owe most to is Andrea Mellis from the Vienna Conservatory, head of the Musical section.
As a co-producer , director and performer I created a Music Comedy Theatre piece based on Opera, Musical and Cabaret. Besides this I worked as a Jazz/Blues vocalist in various groups, starting to enlarge my repertoire into the Pop range while working at corporate events. I also started to sing on Weddings at that time and realised how much I loved that.
During my London time, together with an English colleague, I created an Anglo-German Cabaret Show programme. We toured in Europe but where also called several times by the Royal National Theatre, Southbank in London. I also performed my solo opera show program, tailored for private and corporate events intertwining it with my work as a wedding singer.
I am very passionate about singing at wedding. This kind of work enables me and gives me the opportunity to contribute to this very special moment in people’s lives. There is something magical and unique about weddings. Everybody is emotional and in a solemn mood, positive tension and expectation lies in the air. It is wonderful to be part of that atmosphere and enhance it with soul touching music.

Together with Castello dal Pozzo, Villa San Remigio is today one of the best destination to celebrate a civil wedding on lake Maggiore.
Villa San Remigio is located on the top of Colle della Castagnola, near Verbania Pallanza and overlooks Lake Maggiore. Its garden was studied and realized from a young couple of lovers. It has a romantic and interesting story.
Musician and poet Marquis Silvio della Valle di Casanova and passionate painter Sophie Browne, after their wedding in 1896 decided to realize their dream, transforming into a villa an old grandparents’ chalet. They renewed the park that became their lover refuge.
After more than 100 years Sophie and Silvio’s dream this wonderful villa is now on the disposal of bridegrooms who want to crown their big day.
Just a touch of continuity and good fortune. Continue Reading »

Attention: UPDATE July 2011
Hotel Restaurant Villa Crespi IS NOT ASSOCIATED to Italian Lakes Wedding Team anymore because of their new policy on weddings.
As alternative to Hotel Restaurant Villa Crespi you can find on these pages the best venues, villas, restaurants and hotels recommended by Italian Lakes Wedding.
Villa Crespi is located in Orta San Giulio, on lake Orta one of the most fascinating Lakes of Piemonte.
This home was built by the end of 1800 from Beniamino Crespi, a rich Italian business man charmed by Baghdad appeal. It took 12 years to build this wonderful building and for its handcrafts he decided to use the most precious materials. Green marbled came from Polcevera, red one from Levanto, he wanted Sicily jaspers, Swedish, Spanish and French marbles. As for stuccoes he wished for handmade embossed copper moulds. There were stalls for horses, a greenhouse, a dock a big wall with wonderful iron gates and a 48 meters minaret; all this was surrounded by terraced gardens toward the Lake.
After more than 100 years, after hosting princesses and queens, Villa Crespi is now an luxury hotel. Bridegrooms coming from all over the world simply love it. They choose it for an exclusive ceremony, a special wedding, a different reception, an important party or just for an unforgettable dinner.
A suggestion for all the brides that dream of a unique and really different wedding: why don’t you opt for an ethnic theme wedding?
It is one of the most wanted trends of the moment!
Villa Crespi thanks to its memorable Moresque atmosphere will be the perfect fairy tale scenario for your precious Ethnic Wedding. Continue Reading »

Spring is the season for weddings. If you are having a spring wedding on the Italian Lakes, there is simply no better way to express your love for your future spouse than by carrying a bouquet of tulips. A bouquet of tulips signifies unending love and care. The is one of the world’s most easily recognized and loved flowers. It’s hard to imagine a better flower for a spring wedding in Italy: some varieties of tulips have become available year round, but the peak season with the widest selection is right now.

Used since ancient times to symbolize undying love, affection and enchantment, these colorful blossoms may add a fresh touch of elegance and class to your ceremony and reception.
The meanings of tulips coupled with the immediately identifiable shape of their colorful blooms make them a comfortable flower choice. They are not too elegant, too romantic, too big, too small, or too bright; the tulip is always just right.
