The Sacro Monte Church, Orta San Giulio - Photo by Giorgio Gnemmi - Artefoto Omegna
In my function as soprano singer I happened to sing at numerous wedding ceremonies in England, Germany, Portugal, Hungary and naturally in Italy.
For me it is difficult to say which place I liked the most. Every church and each ceremony has its own fascination and is unique. But amongst all, the one that has impressed me most has been the Sacro Monte Church in Orta. Certainly not for its rich and sophisticated decorations but quite the contrary: built in the 15th century in honor of San Francesco d’Assisi this church is held deliberately poor, constructed with “poor” materials following the Saint’s indications to accentuate the virtues of poverty and humility. Within the following centuries the church has been enriched with valuable frescos and other art pieces which make it so suggestive today. Continue Reading »

Among the wedding venues of the Italian Lake District the Castello di Miasino (Miasino’s Castle) is one of the most well known and requested ones by Italian couples. Some of the reasons might be its panoramic position (with a view to one of the arms of lake Orta), its parking facilities for guests and the possibility to celebrate your wedding with a civil ceremony.
Being a highly attended venue I often happened to work there in my function as floral designer. Visiting my website www.lapiccolaselva.it you can easily find a whole section dedicated to my floral arrangements at Castello di Miasino with hundreds of photographs. My decor proposals are ranging from centre table ones to the big staircase leading to the upper apartments and finally to the hall where the wedding ceremonies are celebrated with civil rite. Please also have a look into the garden where my floral compositions might beautify your reception buffet , not forgetting the entrance area of the Castle with the statue of Santa Sofia. To her feet I would advise a creation consisting of flowers, ferns and rose petals.
I have recently updated my photo gallery of floral arrangements at the Castle of Miasino including a selection of the most beautiful ones from all the weddings I realized there during 2008. Please take a look and enjoy!

Dear bride- and groom-to-be,
I would like to invite you to take a look and listen to my video as sometimes words are not enough.
Voice and charisma are a sensual vibrations, primordial experience and not really transmittable by words, not even by the most analytic text.
The video shows me while performing in various locations and occasions, from club, theatre, church, civil ceremony, convention, corporate dinner to private party and weddings.
I hope the love, intensity, passion and fun which lie beneath will transmit.
Take a glance, have an earful and get an idea if my style corresponds with your wedding plans or… simply enjoy the music.

It is a medieval charming jewel.
Santa Maria Assunta Church is surely one of the most beautiful churches in the Italian Lakes District. It was photographed by Vogue and even from some important bridal magazines, too.
From its main entrance the view is stunning, it embraces old Orta San Giulio village, precious San Giulio Island and Alps crown. If you will decide to get married here, all your guests will be just delighted.
Orta little village is the pearl of the lake. Its narrow car traffic free roads lead to main square to admire Orta in all its charm.
From main square start a little climbing road that lead to Santa Maria Assunta Church.
Coasting this ancient road there are wonderful medieval and 1700 buildings with frescoes and stuccoes. It seems a fairy tale that could be the perfect and unforgettable frame for you and your guests. Continue Reading »

Flower Arrangements by Monika Andenmatten floral designer - La Piccola Selva, lake Orta
As floral designer I’m always looking for interesting and creative solutions but this always depends on bridegrooms choices!
To give you an example Rossella and Giorgio’s wedding was a great occasion to work on a charming theme to me: autumn colors.
Rossella and Giorgio got married last Saturday in Orta San Giulio, lake Orta. A simple ceremony at Villa Bossi followed by a nice reception in wonderful atmosphere of Palazzo Penotti Ubertini.
Bridegroom’s wishe was having a color scheme that could reflect intense Autumn colors with some elements recalling this romantic season that lots of poets love.
As far as the floral arrangements, bouquet and ceremony table arrangement were concerned I opted for a strong contrast between chocolate brown and purple smoothen by soft shades.
I used Black Baccara rose, Leucodendron with Hypericum berries, dry Hydrangea and Gypsum leaves.
On tables at Palazzo Penotti Ubertini I completed the arrangements with rose petals, pine cones and chestnuts.
You can see the final result above. I really hope you like it too!

Eleonora and David got married on the 27th of September. This was a special event planned in association with Italian Lakes Wedding Team. You can have a look to DAVID AND ELEONORA’S PHOTO GALLERY realized by Diego & Estella Photographers - Photo27.com.
The Ceremony took place in the beautiful setting of Villa Rusconi Clerici in Verbania Pallanza, lake Maggiore.
I would need very few words to describe what happened at their wedding (beautiful, romantic, full of joy and feeling, with everything going as planned…). Much longer is the description of the effort and the lovely care and attention to every detail that Eleonora and David put in the planning of their special day, and to the music in particular!
Eleonora contacted me by email some months before the wedding date, in May to be exact.
She and David decided almost at once that my jazz repertoire was exactly what they wanted for the aperitif. But they were undecided for the music for the ceremony: “I don’t remember if I mentioned it” writes Eleonora in one of the many emails we exchanged, “the ceremony will be Catholic and Jewish together…”.
Therefore not only we needed to find music that Eleonora and David liked, that could accompany their ceremony, underlining the special moments, giving everybody emotions and so on (as usual!). We most of all had to find pieces that were not too closely connected to one of the two religions or traditions represented during the ceremony, songs or music that could be impartial. Eleonora & David’s Wedding at Villa Rusconi Clerici, lake Maggiore - Photo27.com
We have lived abroad for many years now and have friends and family spread over various countries. When we decided to get married, we had no doubts: the only way to properly celebrate our big day would be together with all the people we love and hadn’t seen in a long time.
So when it came to choosing the photographer, we knew we wanted to have someone who could mix in with our friends and family and capture the atmosphere of that special day from within - and not simply as an external observer. We wanted the pictures to tell a story – with all its participants.
We found Diego and Estella by searching the web and when we saw their pictures we didn’t need much else to be convinced - they speak for themselves. When the big day came, I immediately knew our choice was the right one: Diego and Estella were everywhere and nowhere at the same time - capturing moments without ever intruding.
Looking at the pictures now is indeed like reading a story. And like in the best movies, every time we discover expressions and details we had actually missed during the wedding itself - and it is as if we lived that very special day once again.

Right after Janet and Ian’s wedding at Villa d’Este, Italian Lakes Wedding Team organized another important event: Bianca and Mills’ wedding to Villa dei Cipressi in Varenna - East side of Lake Como.
Have a look to Bianca and Mills’ photo gallery realized by photographer David Christian Lichtag.
Lake Como recently arouses a certain emotion on people coming from the States. In the last few years famous people like Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie or Sarah Larson visited Lake Como and contributed to let world know the beauty of this magic place, consacrating it as one of the most requested destinations for weddings in Italy and Europe.
Bianca and Mills are from Los Angeles, they work in the movie business.
Bianca is blond so pretty and charming, Mills is a movie director that, among the other commitments, worked as co-director and producer of Lethal Weapon 2 and 3. This was an exclusive wedding that Bianca and Mills reserved for a small number of friends and relatives.

Last month prestigious soprano singer Karin Brides, has joined the Italian Lakes Music Team. Karin is gifted with a splendid voice and notable international experience in the musical area and furthermore she sings in numerous languages, English, German, French and Italian.
Recently i had the pleasure to meet Karin Brides for a chat about her activity as soprano singer at weddings. Karin is extremely gentle and cordial and deeply loves her work.
You immediately will notice this while reading this interview!
- Hi Karin, welcome to Italian Lakes Wedding Blog. What is it about your wedding music business that you are most proud of?
Every wedding I worked at I left bride, groom and the guests deeply touched and thankful. Their reactions made me realize that the music and the singing contributed in a major way to keep the energy high, to create a peak time for them.
- How do you work with clients to choose musical selections for weddings?
I figure out what kind of music taste they have and see if they have already songs or arias in mind.
When I found out about the style of wedding they choose, if more private, casual or grande and official, whether a religious or civil ceremony. Then I look for songs that fit their style and location and together we create the program.
I figure out the couple’s expectations and then work out the details or/and make some other proposals to accomplish the sound-scenery. Continue Reading »
