The Wedding of the Decade

Elkann Borromeo Wedding in Isola MadreOn September 4, 2004 Isola Madre on the Borromeans Islands has been the perfect scenario for the wedding of the decade: John Elkann, Fiat heir, married Donna Lavinia Borromeo of Princes of Angera at the Cappella Bianca on the Isola Madre.
John Elkann is the chiselled 28-year-old grandson of the late Gianni Agnelli. Following the death of his uncle Umberto, Elkann was promoted to the vice-chairmanship of Fiat, becoming the head of Italy’s grandest family in the process.
Princess Lavinia Borromeo is the last descendant of the Borromeo family: this noble family was the owner of the islands for centuries. Borromeo family is one of the premier Italian families that became rich through trade and banking.
Lavinia Borromeo and John Elkann made up a beautiful couple: she was 26, he was 28. They had a beautiful wedding: the ceremony and wedding took place at the Cappella Bianca, at Isola Madre in Lake Maggiore, which is property of the bride’s family. Father Biagio Pizzi and Don Giuseppe Volpati presided over the ceremony. The church was adorned with white and yellow flowers. From the seven hundred guests invited to the reception, only the relatives and close friends of the couple were able to enter the small church.
The bride wore a Valentino’s gown and she complemented it with a splendid lace veil that is running in the Borromeo family for many years. Valentino was also in charge of the dresses worn by the bridesmaids, Beatrice and Matilde (sisters of the bride), as well as by Isabella Borromeo, who acted as witness. Continue Reading »

How to book a good Wedding Photographer

Listed below are a few tips that might help you shortlist the most talented ones:

  • Bored with the usual cheesy shots? Search beyond wedding photographers if you are looking for cool and stylish images. Many fashion and lifestyle photographers can normally be hired for important events as well…and what is more important than your special day? Fashion photographers are great when it comes to portraits of you getting ready and walking around in your gorgeous wedding gown…lifestyle ones are ideal for parties and their pictures are bound to reflect the magic atmosphere of your reception!
  • Do not splash on decoration while saving on a photographer by trusting the ability of friends and family (unless they are professionals). The photos are the only lasting memories of your day, you will be sharing them with your children and grandchildren in the years to come and you just want them to be perfect. Top photographers do charge a lot for a reason…years and years of experience that provided them with a great eye and the ability to play with the light.
  • Search the Internet to come up with an initial list of names, look at their websites and pick the ones that grab your attention. Contact them, ask them to send you their portfolio and prices but most importantly meet them in person to test the chemistry you have with them.

  • What do you think about the new trendy Winter Wedding?
I think that is a pleasant solution for bridegrooms that want an emotional wedding.
Winter light is smooth deeply emotional full of intimate suggestions.
Every decoration can be studied in every single detail and there are much more availability of venues and creative assistance.
  • Can you explain us your Fall/Winter collection? It is sophisticated and very feminine…
I wished realizing a gown collection that would be smooth and light with embroideries that gently lay on wiggly fabrics. The true innovative issue is on accessories, the real central characters of the collection. There are many new proposals: organza matching boleros with ruches and voile or georgettes to dress up gowns adding a touch or charm and romanticism. There are also plumes and furs on the stoles and veils enriched by laces with modern and inedited tailor cuts. Moreover you will see details for practical but elegant hair solutions to complete bride’s style of next collection preview 2008-2009.
  • We noticed that your winter collection is very versatile; even if the gowns have a clear winter connotation they could be worn in every other season…
I’d say that this is a special dedication to the eternal seasons of love…Cold is a personal circumstance; emotion of style is my mission.
  • What will be next Spring Summer collection style?
For Spring 2008 I propose my new satin wiggly lines with transparencies and charming details such as necklines and bijoux. The romantic part is filled of fabric particulars such as laces, tulles, taffetas for elegant gowns, the “new traditional” for the bride who likes cathedral style.

The last detail

wedding details

A wedding is in the details. What makes your wedding unique is all about the little things you choose to make it all come together. With the snap of a shutter, a camera captures a single moment in time, one that can never occur again in the exact same way. At any given wedding, there are an infinite number of these moments that pass into time. Some hold in place for longer than others; some come and go in the blink of an eye.

More importantly, the details become a large part of the overall atmosphere of the wedding and help set the mood for the day. A good photographer knows how to seize the moment. He knows how to fix the time in its best.
As you can see in the picture you see here.

It’s a real pleasure for me introduce Raffaello Mazzoleni of Studio Artefoto Omegna. He is a master at showing the details in pictures of this important day in his exquisite fine art photography, photographing the gown, gloves and wedding flowers or special arrangements selected by the bride and groom as important and significant to the beauty of their day.

As a Professional Wedding Photographer, Raffaello Mazzoleni takes great pride in providing the best wedding photography service in lake Orta, Pallanza, Stresa and lake Maggiore.
