What better destination for an Italian wedding?
Louisa and James live in Australia. James is English from England and Louisa has lived for many years with her family in Germany. When they were looking for the best destination to get together with all their family members and friends from all over the world, Lake Garda was the perfect solution.
Waiting for the wedding dayLouisa and James chose a small hotel on the Western side of Lake Garda to spend a couple of days together with their family and friends. Their aim was finding somewhere refined but intimate – a small family-run hotel with a lovely garden, swimming pool and a fantastic long wooden pier for sunbathing or a dive off into the cool lake, was he venue they chose.
What a relaxed way to celebrate a special day! Louisa and James and their guests pamper themselves with drinks in the delightful sunny garden up to few minutes before the wedding ceremony!
Swapping swimming costumes to formal attire, James and all the guests took private boat towards Garda Island, the most fabulous setting for a wedding on Lake Garda!
Garda Island, the most beautiful wedding location on Lake Garda
On the other hand, Louisa, with her father and her sister as bridesmaid took a small speedboat almost straight afterwards. Crossing spectacular gardens the bride reached the ancient portico already prepared for the ceremony.
Lake Garda has only one island, Garda Island (Isola del Garda). On its shores elegant neo-gothic Venetian villa stands. It is an majestic building with amazing architectural details. From the water its splendour is completely enchanting. Exquisite Italian terraces and gardens slope down to the lakeside. The villa is totally surrounded by luxuriant vegetation, local and exotic plants creating a real park in the middle of the lake.
The portico, with its frescoed ceilings and important columns, is the most evocative venue on Garda Island, It is cool in the summer and it is wonderful with all weathers conditions. It is simply perfect to host an elegant ceremony or a candlelit dinner. The view on the lake from this extraordinary setting is truly breathtaking.
An aperitif in spectacular gardens
Following a moving ceremony accompanied by the sweet sound of a violin, Louisa and James had a toast with their family and friends, amongst the bushes and spectacular ornamental vines of the Italian gardens of the villa.
While the guests were enjoying a refreshing aperitif and lakeside breeze, our newlyweds took some time for their to take some special shots amongst the ancient greenhouses and plants with the awe-inspiring background of the lake.
A Lakeside candlelit dinner on Garda Island
Louisa and James wanted a relaxed atmosphere with a rustic touch for their wedding reception. For their wedding dinner our newlyweds and their guests got back to the hotel by boat. On the terrace overlooking the lake, a long table with yellow and violet flowers in charming jam-jar vases on, in between birdcages and candles was waiting for them.
The magical atmosphere was enhanced by hanging lanterns creating a special atmosphere on the Lake Garda at night. A perfect end to these special days spent on Lake Garda shores. For all guests Louisa and James’ wedding was a great occasion to meet again and spend unforgettable moments together. A memory that they will keep in their souls forever!
A special thank to photographer Enrico Celotto for these amazing shots.
